Synopsis
From the Design Book of Marcelline Noirot: The allure of the perfect gown should be twofold: ladies would die to wear it . . . and gentlemen would kill to remove it!

Brilliant and ambitious dressmaker Marcelline Noirot is London's rising star. And who better to benefit from her talent than the worst-dressed lady in the ton, the Duke of Clevedon's intended bride? Winning the future duchess's patronage means prestige and fortune for Marcelline and her sisters. To get to the lady, though, Marcelline must win over Clevedon, whose standards are as high as his morals are . . . not.

The prize seems well worth the risk--but this time Marcelline's met her match. Clevedon can design a seduction as irresistible as her dresses; and what begins as a flicker of desire between two of the most passionately stubborn charmers in London soon ignites into a delicious inferno . . . and a blazing scandal.

And now both their futures hang by an exquisite thread of silk . .

My Thoughts
Silk Is For Seduction is the first book that I have read from this author in a very long while. So I kept putting it off not knowing if I would enjoy it or not. Now I am thinking I should have read it when I first got it. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit and it was a bit different type of story that I really liked. I really loved the interaction between the two characters. I also enjoyed the mini side story as well. I found myself really liking the unique style of this story. I loved how bold and daring Marcelline could be, she definitely had my vote. Clevedon is one of those heroes that you just can't help but fall in love with. He is so sweet and attentive at times, it just made me smile. I really was charmed by his manner toward her. There were many different things I liked about this story. I really loved how dedicated Marcelline was to building a life for herself, I truly enjoyed how Clevedon treated others, and how he would always try to do the right thing. I also loved the witty humor and the tender romance that will charm you.

My Favorite Quote
"Coward" he said softly. She stopped and turned and marched back to him. She dropped her reticule, grasped his neckcloth, cupped his face, dragged his mouth to hers, and kissed him.

My Review
Summary

Then he pops back into her life. Kate has not been sitting idly by while her husband has been gone. She has had a very fulfilling life, living a life that no one knows her deep secret. Ned left three years ago to find himself, he knew he needed to prove himself. Even though he regretted having to leave Kate, he knew it was for the best. Now he is back, strong and capable and determined to prove himself to her...

The Hero (Ned Carhart)
Ned has always felt less than himself and has felt like he has needed to prove himself all of his life. When events are set in motion where he finds himself married at a very young age, he knows he needs to find himself and establish a life for himself, even if that means leaving Kate for a time. When Ned, her husband returns back into her life, she has no idea what to expect from him. He has changed so much, but the passion she feels for him is rekindled, and she doesn't know if she can or will deny it...

My Thoughts
I have to say I am truly enjoying this author...way too much. There is just something about her books that keeps you reading. When I first read the blurb for this story, I wasn't too overly excited to read it. However I had a feeling I would enjoy it, and did I ever. I am so glad I listen to that sixth sense at times. There were so many aspects of the story that I just fell in love with. The first one would be the plot....it was such a engaging plot that was full of excitement and enough mystery to almost give me a heart attack. There were a few twists and turns throughout the story that made me always wonder 'What Would Be Happening Next? ' I was always being surprised at different intervals that just kept me involved in the story. I found that I truly enjoyed the characters quite a bit. Maybe more than the first book. Ned is the type of hero that one doesn't see too often, but you are always pleased when it does. I probably wouldn't put him in the alpha male category, more like beta male. He will fight for what he wants, but isn't too domineering or controlling. You can see what a gentle man he is, although he can certainly be protective when its needed. I also enjoyed Kate, whose secret life just made me grin the whole time I was reading it. Kate is very caring and would sacrifice herself to help another. I really loved seeing Ned and Kate interact with each other, since they definitely have different backgrounds in a way that keeps their relationship very interesting. A Lovely written story that will tug at those heartstrings!

My Favorite Quote
"Before he could think better of it,  he leaned down  and touched his lips to hers. She was soft and for all the murky complications of his own lust, the kiss he gave her was as simple and unshadowed as a summer noon. She tasted of warm sunshine and soft breezes. "

ARC Book Review-What Happens In Scotland

What Happens In Scotland
Jennifer McQuiston
Avon Books
 EBook
Published February 26 2013
384 Pages
Scottish Historical Romance
When recent widow Georgette Thorold wakes up beside an attractive but unmemorable stranger, she has more to sort out than her missing memory. Her cousin, whom she is supposed to be visiting, is nowhere in sight, and the wedding ring on her finger suggests she did more than kiss the handsome Scotsman in her bed. Determined to either correct an egregious error or pretend it never happened, Georgette does what any well-bred lady with a modicum of sense and a distrust of marriage would do: she panics, hits the man over the head with a chamber pot, and runs.

James McKenzie, Esquire has spent his adult life trying to overcome his miscreant youth and his family’s disappointment, but in a single night he may have just destroyed his hard-earned reputation. He has either spent the evening protecting a very naïve, and—dare he say it—very drunk young lady from the advances of every disreputable character in the town of Moraig, or he has gone and married a pretty, scheming thief. Not that his own head is entirely clear on the matter, but when the woman in question repays his kindness with a knock on the head, the bill for her room, and the theft of his purse, an embarrassed James is determined to track her down and show her she picked the wrong solicitor to swindle.
My Review
Summary
When Georgette awakens in the arms of a naked stranger, she is stunned to discover that she has no memory of the previous evening. She has no idea how she got into a strange bed but apparently she has done some pretty scandalous things...and then she finds a ring on her finger....and in a fit of panic she hits her new apparent husband over the head with a chamber pot and abandons him and flees. When Georgette returns home, she finds that her memory is starting to slowly return....like she has to put the pieces together....so she starts investigating trying to find out the identity of her "new" husband. But when she finally does find him....she finds out he has been trying to find her because he believes her to be a thief, and doubts that they are truly really married....as they together search to find out the truth....there is something powerful building between them....and they start to wonder if and when they find out if they are truly married....will they both want to stay married?

The Hero (James McKenzie)
James, has been working so hard to build his life up....to not depend on his father and his family...to prove to them that he is more than the scoundrel he used to be. But then he realizes a majority of the money he has earned for himself, has disappeared along with his "Wife" so he goes in search of her believing that she is a thief, and he is determined after all the pains he has suffered to get his money back, but when he finds her, he is furious and as they search for the truth together....he starts to have tender feelings for his new wife and doesn't want to have to let her go.

The Heroine (Georgette Thorold)
Georgette has come up to visit her cousin, and to move on after her cheating husband dies....but her cousin practically throws himself at her trying to convince her to marry him, and then a night where she knows she drank way too much and remembers nothing. Now she is on a quest to find her "Husband" and to figure out what she exactly did, and if James is really her husband. But as they get closer to the truth, she starts to realize how much she has come to love and admire James, and doesn't want to lose him after she has found someone that could be her future...

My Thoughts
What Happens In Scotland was a fun and adventurous romance novel....and I am so grateful and Avon and Edelweiss gave me the opportunity to read this and be able to review it. When I first saw the cover....I was thinking "This Is A Must Read", it just drew me in and the moment I was the Synopsis, I was hooked, I started reading it, and I was amazed by how much I loved it. Jennifer McQuistion is a new author...and I just loved her style of writing. It was witty, and crazy, and a breath of fresh air. Most historical aren't very comical without ruining the whole plot...however I loved how McQuiston just put everything together, and how smoothly the story flowed and synced together to make a truly magical love story that will put at the readers heartstrings. There were quite a few things I loved about this story. One of the first was how Georgette just bangs her new husband over the head with a chamber pot (now that was pure genius)   and I definitely laughed my head off at that one, and I just loved the creative way Georgette goes about to find her Husband....there were so many things that made me laugh and just got me more into the story. I also loved how Georgette and James interact with each other. At first they are enemies...and then friends...who turn into lovers....and there is definitely some twists and turns...and as always...a Villian who really makes things happen....Overall A Delightful Read that will make you eager for more from this debut author!

My Review
Summary
Jenny, is a fortune teller, and has a sophisticated clientele. When one of her regular clients, Ned, comes to her to convince his cousin of her authenticity. Gareth is a man of science, and ever since he came into his title, he has had to bear the weight of his title and all the responsibilities. Ned is young and innocent enough to be taken advantage of. When he hears about "Madame Esmerelda" he plans to discredit her, because he knows she is deceiving his cousin. At first he challenge her, and she in return challenges him back, and he finds her spirited and lovely and finds her irresistable and can't wait to get her into his bed. However he doesn't plan on ever falling in love....especially with a woman that matches him in all the ways that matter.

The Hero  (Gareth Carhart)
Gareth, Lord Blakely has a passion for the scienes. And on the outside may seem cold and withdrawn but craves companionship and hates the feeling of loneliness. However he doesn't fully realize it until he meets Jenny, who turns his world of order into a world of chaos. He knows she is far different from him, but from the first time she spars with him, his desire for her encompasses him and it takes all his effort to keep his self control in check and not make passionate love to her for days on end.

The Hero (Jenny Keeble)
Jenny, is a fortune teller, which is not as easy as it looks. Jenny has worked hard over the years, for her reputation. She depends on her regular clientele in order to survive here in London.  Now Lord Blakely is threatening to ruin everything, including her friendship with his cousin, who is like family to her. The only person that has ever shown kindness to her. But Gareth is very different, he makes her feel alive for the first time in her life, and finds herself falling in love with her.

My Thoughts
Proof By Seduction is the second in the series, and I now wonder why I haven't read more from this author before now. Milan has a very unique style of writing, one that instantly draws the reader instantly into the story. From the first sentance in the story I was hooked. I loved how from the first couple of pages, we see the first meeting of Gareth and Jenny. I have to say I found myself cracking up seeing them interact, it was like witnessing a sparring match, only verbally. I love the witty characteristics that played out throughout the story, and how you see these two people fall in love who may seem different in the beginning, are perfect for each other. I also loved the creativity of this author, and some of the scenes were definitely not commonplace. Overall a creatively written and fun story filled with endearing characters, engaging plot and intensely romantic that will make you shed a tear or two.

My Favorite Quote
"I'm not an automaton"
The thoughts of her mouth against his snuffed what little guttering intellect remained to him. Her flesh seemed to sizzle beneath his fingertips. He lowered his head to her lips until her lips were a tantalizing inch from his.

Synopsis

My Review
Summary
Julia, even though a werewolf romance author, has come to Scotland with more than one intention. Julia, has been charged by her grandfather to find a artifact that is hidden within the castle. Even with a hidden agenda, Julia can't resist the magic of the scenery surrounding her, or how much Laird Ian Macneill  makes her feel alive, both her human side and her wolf. However Ian is totall Alpha, leader of his people and his den, and doesn't like not being in control. Ian has had to be a leader for quite some time, and even though he hates strangers, and having a movie being produced at his home, is even more loathesome. However, Julia intrigues him, and his wolf only wants to get to know the little red even more. What he doesn't expect is to find Julia as his Mate...

The Hero
Ian, is a tough highlander and alpha wolf and Laird over his clan. Even though it is the modern age, Ian and his people have managed to maintain tradition of the highlands. As the oldest of his brothers, he is the leader and as such has many responsibilites. Because they are in much debt, he knows he doesn't have much of a choice to let a filming crew in his home. But when he meets Julia, he senses something very suspicious about her, and is determined to find out what she is hiding. Only he never thought she would be the one to teach him about love.

The Heroine
Julia, a royal and a red werewolf, also defies convention, and writes werewolf romance novels. However she is here in Scotland on a special mission by her grandfather. As much as she would like this to be a vacation for her, she knows her grandfather has good reason for sending her here. But finding a secret box hidden within the castle, will be no easy task, especially with Laird Ian around. What she doesn't expect is to find such a connection with him, where she finds herself falling madly for him...

My Thoughts
Heart Of The Highland Wolf is the seventh in the series. I have just loved each and every book that I have read from this author. When I found this one at the library, and saw that not only did it have werewolf shifter, but was mixed in with a scottish highlands theme, I definitely could hardly wait to read it.   I have to say I didn't know when I started reading it how much I would like it....but I LOVED it!! Its by far my favorite book of the series. It was such a witty and engaging story, one that keeps the reader on their toes. There was one surprise after another and I felt myself feeling like laughing almost constantly. I loved both Ian and Julia. Ian is very alpha, commanding and domineering, the kind that is the 'he man' type. Which I found so amusing at times. Julia is feisty, stubborn and very headstrong. I found that together they created some heated chemistry. Overall a delightful and very engaging read that had me reading as fast as I could. I truly enjoyed the way this author mixed together a contemporary romance, with paranormal elements as well as some scottish highland culture mixed right in that made for the perfect balance for a outstanding read!!! It has to be one of the best werewolf romances I have had the pleasure of reading.  One you don't want to miss out on reading!!! (plus who could resist such a beautiful cover...deliciousness) A ADVENTUROUS RIDE OF ACTION, MYSTERY AND ROMANCE!!!

My Review
Summary
When challenge coins have been exchanged, Rafferty is now determined to be the one to destroy Magnus, once and for all. But when he meets Melissa Smith he is intrigued, but very suspicious of her.  When he first meets her he catches her stealing, so he doubts her. But then when he realizes that she is his firestorm, he knows he must protect her. But then he starts to realize that his firestorm is far different than any other, because  its where the 'Darkfire' is introduced. One which is prophesied to change everything. Even though Rafferty is unsure of Melissa, he also can't resist the passion that rises between them....

The Hero
Rafferty, is one of the older Pyr, who has much experience on his belt. Rafferty has always been loyal to the Pyr and one of the most talented. From the moment that Melissa enters into his life, he changes. His primary goal is to protect her at all costs. His feelings for her overwhelm him, and his protective instincts go into hyperdrive whenever danger comes calling. However he also knows that she is the one he has been waiting for....His Mate.

The Heroine
Melissa, a reporter and a journalist, has recently lost a dear friend who was murdered. As such she is determined to find justice, but she never expects her world to change forever. Melissa knows that she can never have a family like she has dreamed of. But when Rafferty comes into her life, she starts to hope again, that he may be the best thing that has happened to her.

My Thoughts
Darkfire Kiss is the sixth installment of the series, and even though it was a enjoyable one, it would probably be my least favorite of the series. I just was never fully able to really get into the story very well, at least not until the end. So I was a bit disappointed since I have been looking forward to Rafferty's story ever since I started reading the series. It didn't flow very smoothly, not like her other books, and I didn't enjoy it as much as the others. Overall though it was a comfortable read that one could relax with, and even I was a bit disappointed, I still enjoyed it, just not as much as the others that I have read so far. I am hoping the the next in the series I will enjoy more.

On My Wishlist (34)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming.

THERE'S A FOX IN THE HENHOUSE
Inheriting the most notorious house of ill repute in Texas can spell trouble for a girl's reputation . . . especially when she's Elizabeth Murphy, Bramble's prim and proper librarian. Yet when she discovers a buck-naked cowboy handcuffed to a four-poster bed, she forgets all about the town gossips. Elizabeth has sworn off men, but the stranger's kisses melt her resolve faster than ice cream on a hot summer day.
Waking up in Miss Hattie's Henhouse isn't how Brant Cates reckoned on getting to the bottom of his great-granddaddy's murder. The plan was to solve the centuries-old crime, then get the heck out of Dodge. But after meeting Elizabeth and discovering that the buttoned-up beauty is a sexy siren in disguise, he just can't pull himself away.
Now Brant needs Elizabeth to finally put his past to rest, but is she willing to risk her future on Bramble's newest bad boy?

Pushed by her dying father into a marriage with one of his friends, Charlotte Rutherford Wylde finds herself bound to an old man who disdains and ignores her. Miserable, furious, she determines to take drastic action, but before she can confront him, her husband is murdered in the dark London streets. From the moment Charlotte hears this upsetting news, she is subject to shock after shock. Her dead husband has spent the fortune she brought him, leaving her nearly penniless. His will reflects his obsession with the artifacts of ancient Rome, turning her home into a museum. And most astonishing of all, he had an entire family that he never mentioned.

The fashionable Wyldes are as surprised to hear of Charlotte's existence as she is of theirs. To the charismatic Alec she is, at first, just another obligation in his overburdened life. He has to grapple with his dead relative's shady business dealings, an attempted robbery, and a suspicious Bow Street Runner. But it's not long before Alec realizes that there is nothing he would rather do than cherish the entrancing Widow Wylde.

Pretty, petite Evie Windham has been more indiscreet than her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Moreland, suspect. Fearing that a wedding night would reveal her past, she's running out of excuses to dodge adoring swains. Lucas Denning, the newly titled Marquis of Deene, has reason of his own for avoiding marriage. So Evie and Deene strike a deal, each agreeing to be the other's decoy. At this rate, matrimony could be avoided indefinitely...until the two are caught in a steamy kiss that no one was supposed to see

RAPHAEL

The brilliant and dangerous diplomat of the Pantera shapeshifters, Raphael has devoted his life to discovering the key to the infertility that is threatening the extinction of his puma race. Creating a vast network of spies worldwide, he never expected to discover that the answer might be beneath his very nose. But when Ashe, a beautiful human female, crosses his path, his most primitive instincts are stirred. Unable to resist, he takes her to his bed, and is shocked when she becomes pregnant with his child. It’s a miracle that might prove to be the salvation of his people, but only if he can keep her safe from the mercenaries determined to kill her.

PARISH

Untamed and undeniably sexy, Parish, leader of the Pantera hunters, rarely leaves the magic of the Wildlands to deal with the humans he despises. But with the prized and risky Pantera birth on the way, puma shifter, Parish must travel to New Orleans to find and bring back a human doctor. The moment he sees the lovely, talented and all too human Dr. Julia Cabot he cannot resist the wild, potent drive to make her his. Betrayed and destroyed by love, Julia will not let her heart choose her path again. But as she and Parish fight to save the life of an unborn child, a fierce and overwhelming bond develops between them, threatening her frozen heart with the secret hope and ultimate temptation of love and family

Q:  Who is your favorite villain from a book?

A; Well that is very hard, because most villians are true evil, so its difficult to have a favorite. I would say its a tie between two stories. The first would be Lisa Kleypas, in " Lady Sophia's Lover" we have Sophia's brother, who just cause grief but yet one can't help but love him, because you see some good potential in him. The second would be in pretty much both series by Jeaniene Frost, there is a villian, but is more of a irritant, who causes drama to the extreme, a friend to Bones and Mencheres, but somehow even though he does some pretty bad things, as a reader you can't help but be amused by his antics. So on occasion the villian can be likeable and entertaining.

My Review

Niall is determined to destroy his twin brother and the rest of the shadow dragons who threaten everything they hold dear. But through him meets his firestorm, who already knows about the Pyr. Rox, has forgotten her past and has built a life for herself. She is a tattoo artist, and a very talented one at that. When she meets Niall, there is a sizzling chemistry between them, and before she realizes it she is drawn into Niall's world. A world full of excitement, intrigue and danger. A danger that could destroy both herself and Niall and the rest of the Pyr...

The Hero
Niall, lost his twin brother long ago and now he finds that his beloved twin, is now a shadow dragon and who is attempting to steal Rox from him. He knows that he will have to let his brother go and destroy him in order to save Rox  and protect her. Niall, even though very experienced, has some inner demons to fight before he will be able to face the slayers.

The Heroine
Rox, left her family many years ago, when her mother remarried a man that threatened to make her life a living hell, and after losing her sister, she runs away and after living on the streets for a time, finds a life for herself working as a tattoo artist. Rox has always been a strong believer in second chances, and she knows she has found hers in Niall

My Thoughts
Whisper Kiss is the fifth installment in the series, and I just keep falling in love with each and every one of these books that I have been able to read. I thought that Whisper Kiss has a level of its own uniqueness, I really enjoyed seeing the interaction between Niall and Rox. Rox I fell in love with immediately, (even though I am not the biggest fan of tattoo's) I really loved her attitude and how she sets Niall straight on some things. She has got fire and spirit and is a very endearing character. Niall is just sexy, plain and simple. One can't help but fall in love with a man who is so willing to fight for those he loves. Overall a fun and irresistable read that will romance you from beginning to end.

Shape Shifting Romance
Synopsis
For millennia, the shape-shifting dragon warriors known as the Pyr have commanded the four elements and guarded the earth’s treasures. But now the final reckoning between the Pyr and the dreaded slayers is about to begin…

The mysterious Dragon’s Blood Elixir gives immortality to Magnus, the Pyr’s greatest enemy, and his minions—so it must be destroyed. Outcast from the Pyr because of his own dangerous impulses, Delaney will do anything to vanquish Magnus—and vows to complete a mission which will either redeem him or end his suffering.

But his plans don’t take into account his sudden firestorm—or the hot-tempered Ginger Sinclair. The firestorm reforms Delaney closer to his old self. And when Ginger learns about Delaney’s scheme, she cannot resist a strong man with a noble agenda.
My Review
Summary
Delaney, as we have seen in previous books, is a Pyr, only has been partly corrupted by 'Magnus', the head of the slayers, who forced him to drink a certain elixir, that has caused him to wage a war within himself. A war that he is still fighting himself, and after almost harming his brothers family, he is determined to find a way to win this inner battle. On his way to accomplish his mission, he comes across his firestorm, who makes him feel more like himself than ever before. He also knows he doesn't have a lot of time, and that his mission could very well mean his death. However he underestimates Ginger, who is a fighter and is willing to do whatever it takes to show him the true power of the "Firestorm" and by working together they can defeat Magnus.

The Hero
Delaney, once a powerful Pyr, was corrupted by his enemy, and he doesn't know if he will be able to win the battle that is waging within him, so he decides to destroy Magnus at all costs, even at the cost of his life. But when he comes across his Firestorm, he is overwhelmed, and at first only thinks of sating the desire, but when Ginger, follows him, he knows that there must be another way to defeat his enemy with the combined forces of the Pyr, and with the assistance of his mate...

The Heroine
Ginger, owns a farm but one night out on the town with friends, she meets a man, that takes her breath away. After spending a delicious night in his arms, she knows he is one of a kind, and when she wakes up alone, she goes after him. Ginger refuses to lose the one man that she knows is a keeper. But she is in over her head when she realizes who Delaney truly is, a Dragon, who she is madly in love with...

My Thoughts
Winter Kiss was such a fun and exciting story. I just fell in love with Ginger from the very beginning, she had spunk and attitude and I loved it!! Delaney, at times I didn't like especially in the beginning, where he basically finds his firestorm and just plans on sating it and leaving her pregnant and alone. That part I didn't like but as the story plays out, you start to like him more and more. From previous books we see the struggle that Delaney has gone through, so I truly loved reading his story, and I thought Ginger was just perfect for him. Winter Kiss is a truly fantastic story that will steal your heart, a tale of love and adventure, and that anything worthwhile is worth fighting for.
