My Thoughts
My Wicked Little Lies, is the second in this series, and I have seen this one on the shelves for months, and even though its been a while since I have read from this author, I thought why not?? So the minute I got home I started reading, and it caught my attention from the very first chapter, and held it until the very last. I have to say this is probably one of my favorite books so far from this author. I have always loved all the other books that I had read previous by Alexander, however this one I think tops them all. I have a certain weakness for spy stories, especially in a historical romance, and the setting was just perfect. I just loved how the characters in the book, had already fallen in love, and takes places two years after they get married, and we see a lovely story unravel, with an thrilling plot, that curled my toes with anticipation, the characters strongly portrayed and so endearing one couldn't help but fall in love with Evelyn and Adrian and even the side characters as well. I think one of my favorite aspects of this book, is how Evelyn is very strong willed but not too strong, just enough that just wanted me to shout "You go Girl"!!! Adrian is very Alpha at times and very stubborn and it was almost comical watching these two hash it out at different segments throughout the story. Overall a beautifully written story, with a balanced flow, well written characters, and a plot that will steal your breath and .....your heart! Definitely a Keeper!!!!

Book Review-A Little Bit Wicked

A Little Bit Wicked
Last Man Standing (1)
Victoria Alexander
Avon
359 Pages
Published January 2007
Victorian
ISBN: 978-0-06-088262-4
Synopsis
Who will be the last unmarried man standing?

No man in his right mind would want to get married, but every duke, earl, and viscount knows that a fellow must do his duty in the end. So four of London's most desirable gentlemen make a wager--the prize going to the one who remains unwed the longest.

Gideon Pearsall, Viscount Warton, thinks he has a fair shot at winning. After all, he's managed to enjoy the favors of many a lady while resisting the parson's noose. Even when he's stopped dead in his tracks by the most scandalous woman in all of London--Judith, Lady Chester--he vows to have her bedded but never wedded.

Beautiful, and more than a little bit naughty, Judith has always kept herself within the bounds of respectability, even while playing by her own rules. And the experience has taught her to avoid marriage. She has no desire to resist Warton's hot kisses, and his tempting touch is impossible to ignore.

But soon both Judith and Gideon can't help but wonder . . . is it possible to be a little bit wicked and still follow your heart?

Summary:
In A Little Bit Wicked, Judith, Lady Chester has always had a taste for the little pleasures in life, but still lives on the edge of respectability. Judith is beautiful, practical and enjoys life to its fullest. Judith comes across Gideon, Viscount Warton, and a simmering desire between them escalates to burning passion, for these two that are only looking for a lover, and no commitment. However what began has a intimate relationship with no love or affection, gradually turns into a adventure  where love is the key to unlocking both of their hearts and learning to trust in each other and themselves...

The Hero (Gideon Pearsall, Viscount Warton)
Gideon, appears to society to be arrogant and superior, and has a scandalous past, where after he fell in love and had his heart broken, he changed that he gamble, was drunk more often than not, and had more women than he could count, until he was saved by his small circle of friends, who have always been there for him. Now he has changed, and is more respectable, but isn't anxious for the shackles of marriage. But when he enters into a intimate relationship with Judith, things for him starts to change, and the ice around his heart melts, and he starts losing his heart to her.

The Heroine (Judith, Lady Chester)
Judith, is thirty years old, and a widow, and has lived on the edges of respectability, yet craves passion. Judith once loved when she was married for three years, but after his death she has never let herself loved before. In her past affairs, they would only last a month or so before her feelings and her heart would get involved. However with Gideon, things are different for her, before she realizes it she has fallen in love with him, and has a fear of trusting herself to love again...

My Thoughts
A Little Bit Wicked is the first installment in the Last Man Standing series by Victoria Alexander. This series is about four men that are close friends, and have made a wager on who is the last one to get married, since none of them desire the shackles of matrimony. Which I have read books from this author, however this is my favorite series other then the Effington series. The only complaint that I have is the heroine character, especially throughout the beginning of the story, she is more distanced and closed off from her emotions, and I found I enjoyed the Gideon's character more. Both characters suffer from pain in their past, but he is more open to her than she is to him. However This is a story where both of the main characters, are afraid to love again, but is a journey of self discovery and also a tender love story.Overall a wonderful love story.....and  A MOST DELICIOUS READ!!!

My Favorite Quote
"When I gazed into the blue of your eyes, I felt something quite remarkable. As though I wasn't merely looking into your eyes but peering into your very soul. And it touched mine." his breath caught "And made me whole"

Book Review-The Princess & the Pea

The Princess & the Pea(Love Spell: Faerie Tale Romances)
Victoria Alexander
Leisure, 354 Pages, Published September 2009
Victorian Historical Romance
ISBN: 0-8439-6315-8

Synopsis:

Once upon a time...they lived happily ever after.

FEEL THE PEA THROUGH THIS BED AND WILY THE HEART OF THE MAN YOU'LL WED.

A true American princess, Cecily White stood to inherit her father's business empire. And with the twentieth century right around the corner, the independent beauty had no intention of marrying some foreign nobleman seeking her money. Then on a trip to England, Cece fell under the spell of a dashing peer who had more to recommend him than the length of his title and the size of his countinghouse. But Cece wouldn't surrender he heart to the virile Earl of Graystone until he proved that the only treasure he wanted was her love.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Review:
After one of Cecily's friends gets hurts from the Early of Graystone, Cecily comes up with a plan to go to England and hurt him just as much. Cece's plan is to convince her parents to take them over to England, telling them that she would like to marry a English Lord, and going to England would do that. Her parents had always wanted her to marry one, so her plan worked she had convinced her parents to take both her and her sister Emily over to England. When they get there they visit a friend of their mother's. Where they meet her son Quentin and his friend Jared, who happens to be the Earl of Graystone (but Cece has no idea whom he really is) where they show her their automobile that they had recently made. At the time of when this book takes place, is when inventors start to make automobiles. Cecily is fascinated, since she has never seen one before. Cecily is also entranced by Jared, however despite their physical attraction to one another there is a undeniable contention that sparks between the two. Cecily heads to Paris, to see the race of automobiles, unsuspecting to Cecily Jared is one of those that are participating in the race. When they meet once more, thus strikes a romantic interlude where a love spikes up when they least expect it. Jared knowing of his responsibilities knows he has to marry into money into saving his family's heritage.Thinking that Cecily is just a daughter of a poor butcher he ends their liason, even though he desperately wants to stay with her. He knows that there are lots of innocent people that he is responsible for and they come first before any of his personal needs. Cecily is heartbroken over Jared's decision, she is withdrawn and not herself. Cecily had fallen in love with Jared and now must find someone to marry even though at that moment its the last thing on Earth she would want to do. But when they are put face to face as Cecily being a rich heiress and Jared being a English Lord, things definitely spice up.  Where Jared will go about proving to Cecily that he wants to marry her not just for her money but for love.

Its been some time since I have read anything from Victoria Alexander, but I have loved her books. This one was a little bit different than most of her other books. Its part of a multi author series: A Faerie Tale. As you can certainly tell from the cover. As in the original Faerie Tale, the princess was put through a test. So with this one, Cece is put through tests by Jared's mother, who is very over protective of him. She desires him to find someone that will be a good wife and will love him and be loyal. So as I was reading through this, some of these tests, I was just laughing through some of them, and cheering for Cece as well, since she always passed each test with flying colors. This is definitely one of my favorites of Victoria Alexander's, it definitely had a certain theme to it, that drew me in. Since I am a huge fan of Faerie Tales, this one was well received for me.
