My Thoughts
Ravished By A Highlander is the first installment in the Children of the Mist series written by Paula Quinn. Paula Quinn has such a talent for writing Scottish Highland Historical Romances and she definitely came out on top with Ravished by a Highlander. I truly loved this story and everything about it. Paula Quinn is such a story teller, and throughout this book, it was like falling in love all over again. The characters were telling and deeply driven. The plot was intense and full of adventure and dilemma, this story will captivate every heart. Definitely a Five blossom in my book!!!

My Favorite Quote:
When he deepened the kiss, she had the feeling of falling deep into a chasm where only he existed, ready and waiting to catch her.

My Review:

My Thoughts
Snowy Night With A Stranger is  a Anthology compiled of three stories by three great historical romance authors: Jane Feather, Sabrina Jeffries and Julia London. I haven't read anything by Jane Feather, but I have read books by Sabrina Jeffries and Julia London, and I truly loved reading this story, definitely filled my heart with the true spirit of Christmas. All three stories have a commonality throughout each story, all of them getting caught in a snow storm. The first story A Holiday Gamble is about Edward Vasey, is caught in a snowstorm, by highwaymen, and he has no other choice than to take refuge with a neighbor at Selby Hall, where he meets Georgiana, who is engaged to someone else, but all can see it is not by her own choice. There is a spark that fly's between Edward and Georgiana, and even though both of them are bound to marry other people, their love is ignited by one kiss during the magical spirit of Christmas. Having never read anything by Jane Feather, I was intrigued by this story, and once I started, I couldn't put it down, I was entranced by how these two would ever find a way to be together. I loved these two characters, they were vivid throughout all of the story, and this is the first christmas story I have read for this year, and definitely set me in the mood for the upcoming Holiday. The second story When Sparks Fly involved a story with a young woman, an heiress, who has searched for love but because she is one of the most sought after because of her money, has yet to find someone she would want to spend the rest of her life with. So traveling with her aunt and niece and nephews, they are caught in a storm, and stranded, but then are rescued by the "Black Baron" who takes them to his home until the storm passes. Martin, rumored as the "Black Baron" because of a painful accident that involved his brother, now has few servants, because of his dangerous experiments on explosive, and doesnt wish for anyone to get hurt. Martin knows that because of his work he may never find a woman to love and have a family. when he meets Elinor, whose spirit and passion about life, stirs him up in a way he never expected, he finds himself drawn to her and she starts to melt away the ice around his heart, and open up to love. I truly loved When Sparks Fly, and this was the story I read the fastest, Sabrina Jeffries, is the type of author that will draw you into a story like no author does. This story was no different, it was heart warming, passionate and filled with unexpecting adventure. Snowy Night With A Highlander Fiona Haines, is from Scotland originally, but followed her brother to London, and went into society, but never managed to fit in, because of her outspoken ways. Now her brother is lying low in Scotland, and Fiona means to find him. So she goes with a rugged highlander, who is protective but quiet, and having suffered as he is scarred, but Fiona doesn't care about that. During their journey to Scotland, a snowstorm forced them to awake a inner passion, that will open the door to true love. Julia London is a author that I enjoy reading from, but sometimes I find her books hard to read at times. This story I did read, but it started out a bit slow for me, and never really picked up the pace until the very end. Although I did enjoy the characters in this story, I found the plot was missing and there needed to be something more to draw in this reader. I was a bit disappointed with it, but it was a nice story. However as a whole, this book was a holiday treasure to read, filled with romance, adventure and mystery, and very entertaining.

My Favorite Quote:
She knew it was wrong, but she didn't care. He was turning her inside out, making her feel things she'd never felt before.

On My Wishlist (15)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming.

Paradise Wild A well-born Boston beauty, Corinne Barrows has traveled halfway around the world in search of Jared Burkett — a dashing rogue and a devil; a honey-tongued charmer who seduced and despoiled her. . .and then abandoned the impetuous lady after awakening a need that only he could satisfy.
She has found him on the lush and lovely island of Hawaii. And now Corinne will have the revenge she craves: the total ruin of the blackguard who brought shame and scandal into her life. But Jared still possesses the power to excite her as no man has ever done—even as his own reckless heart is taken captive in their blistering war of wits and will—igniting a fire that could consume them both unless they surrender to it with wild abandon in the heat of the tropic night.

Hugh Dunne, the Earl of Briarly, needs a wife—so his sister hands him a list of the very best young ladies on the market. And then, because he refuses to tear himself away from the stables where he trains Arabian racehorses, she invites all those ladies to a house party, along with some other bachelors, of course. So who will Hugh choose? The Botticelli-esque, enchanting Gwendolyn? The outspoken, delightful Katherine? If he doesn't work fast, he'll lose those ladies to his closest friends, and then where will he look for a wife? Perhaps, just perhaps, toward a lady who's not on a market at all, and would require a great deal of persuading...

Distressed over the current widespread disinterest in matrimony among their eminently marriageable offspring, the formidable matriarchs of the ton have taken matters into their own meddling hands with the formation of The Ladies' Society for the Betterment of the Future of Britain. Their first challenge: the Earl of Pennington.
Miss Gwendolyn Townsend has seen her late father's estate go to a distant cousin she can't abide ... leaving her well-educated, able to make a perfect curtsy -- and penniless. So imagine her shock when it's discovered that a match had been arranged between herself and Marcus Holcroft, the Earl of Pennington -- one of the most eligible members of London society. Marcus constantly leaves her breathless and confused ... and though she's hesitant to marry a man she's just met, in the end she has no choice. But she makes some conditions first ...
Marcus cannot believe that the bride who has been foisted upon him is insisting on rules to their wedding ... and bedding! He's a man who has never had to tempt any woman into his arms. But even more surprising is that Gwendolyn is clearly hiding something -- and it shocks him to think that their exquisite kisses -- followed by his lessons in passionate lovemaking -- wouldn't be enough to make his wife tell him her every secret. After all, he's promised to be a proper husband -- isn't it fair to also expect a proper wife?

Bestselling author Sabrina Jeffries pens the sizzling story of one of three half-noble half brothers, who makes a most unwelcome entrance into society...and a most unexpected match.

Beautiful Lady Regina Tremaine has turned down so many suitors that she's called La Belle Dame Sans Merci. The truth: she won't marry because she carries a dark secret. She sees no good reason, however, why her brother shouldn't court the lovely Louisa North -- even if the girl's brother, the notorious "Dragon Viscount," objects.

Marcus North, Viscount Draker -- bastard son of the Prince of Wales -- is rumored to be a monster who holds women captive in his dark castle to have his way with them. He has been exiled from polite society for years. But when Lady Regina makes a plea on her brother's behalf, Marcus proposes an outrageous deal: her brother can court Louisa so long as Marcus can court Regina. Can the beauty and the beast survive a proper courtship when the devastatingly improper passion between them threatens to cause the scandal of the century?

Toni Davis's Christmas wish list
1. Springing my best friend from the psych ward.
2. Living somewhere that doesn't have coffins in the basement. Occupied coffins.
3. Finding Mr. Right. Please make him tall, dark, handsome, and alive.

This Christmas isn't so merry for Toni. Her best friend's been locked up in a mental hospital ever since she told the police she was attacked by vampires, and the only way for Toni to get her out is to prove that bloodsuckers really do exist. So she's taken a job as a bodyguard for the Undead, but she gets more than she bargained for, especially when she meets Ian MacPhie, a Scottish rascal looking for Ms. Right.
Although Ian's nearly five centuries old, he looks and acts like a twenty-seven-year-old hunk.
How can a dead man be so damn sexy? Could Mr. Wrong be Mr. Right? One forbidden kiss could lead to an eternity of passion—and all it takes is one moment under the mistletoe .

For proper young ladies, good behavior has always been the rule…
Captain Bradshaw Carroway loves the seafaring life—though he’d rather be battling brigands than his current assignment of ferrying a boatload of spoiled aristocrats. One passenger, however, has caught his eye: a bewitching young minx who definitely distracts him from the rules of shipboard decorum . . .
Some rules, of course, are meant to be broken.
Miss Zephyr Ponsley has traveled the world, but she’s completely innocent in the ways of love. She’s never learned to dance or flirt. But scientific observation has taught her that the laws of attraction have no rules, and that no adventure, on land or sea, is more dangerous—or delicious—than passion!

For prim and shy Daphne Wade, the sweetest guilty pleasure of all is secreatly watching her employer, the Duke of Tremore, as he works the excavation site on his English estate. Anthony hired Daphne to restore the priceless treasures he has been diggin up, but it's hard for a woman to keep her mind on her work when her devastatingly handsome employer keeps taking his shirt off. He doesn't know she's alive, but who could blame her for falling hopelessly in love with him anyway?

Anthony thinks that his capable employee knows all there is to know about antiquities, but when his sister decides to turn the plain young woman in gold-rimmed glasses into an enticing beauty, he declares the task to be impossible. Daphne is devasted when she overhears...and determined to prove him wrong. Now a vibrant and delectable Daphne has emerged from her shell, and the tables are turned. Will Anthony see that the woman of his dreams has been there all along?

By rights, Merrick of Normandy should
shun the serpent-tongued beauty who wishes
him dead. But Alana's sensuous fire
draws him to her — and burns him to his warrior
soul. It is he who is lord and she the captive.
Yet Merrick can never claim true victory until
the proud Saxon maid shares his passion —
and embraces him as master of her heart.

Book Review-With Seduction In Mind

With Seduction In Mind
Girl Bachelor (4)
Laura Lee Guhrke
Avon
360 Pages
Published September 2009
Victorian Historical Romance
ISBN: 978-0-06-145683-1

Synopsis
Her proposition...
London Society is harsh for a young woman with no family connections who has to work for a living. But when Daisy Merrick is sacked from yet another job, the feisty and outspoken miss comes up with a plan that could give her a future beyond her wildest dreams. There's only one problem. Her success depends on a man, the most infuriating, impossible, immovable man she's ever met.

His resolution...

Sebastian Grant, Earl of Avermore, is England's most infamous author. Known for his notorious reputation, he is more interested in play than work, and has no intention of cooperating when Daisy shows up on his doorstep with a mad plan. The provoking, fire-haired beauty stirs his senses beyond belief, and Sebastian knows he has only one way to stop her. Seduction.

MY REVIEW

Summary:
Daisy Merrick, is outspoken and independent, and with every job her sister manages to find for her, she manages to get fired for being too opinionated, which is her downfall. However she loves writing, and goes to Marlowe Publishing for a job. When she gives a review on a play written by a man she once loved reading his work, she provokes him. Sebastian Grant, an infamous writer in England at one time, now hates to write, for it brings to him feelings of fear and helplessness due to his past. Sebastian is determined never to write again, but when the unrelenting Daisy comes to him with a resolution to solve both of their problems, he never expected that she would seduce him into writing again, when he at one time hated doing it. Sebastian has never believed in 'happily ever after' ending, but after being moved by Daisy's beauty and spirit, he dreams of a happy ending for himself.

The Hero
Sebastian Grant, Earl of Avermore, at one time produced great works of writing, and became infamous in England. But then all the tributes get to his head, and he lost his spirit for writing, and after ten years of trying to write and forcing himself to write, and got addicted to drugs, and now having recovered, fears that if he starts writing again he will get back to his addiction, and knows that could lead to his death. Sebastian is stubborn, and angry and frustrated with the world, but also he is angry at himself for losing his life's passion and for all his past mistakes, that has caused him to whom he is now. But meeting Daisy is like a breath of fresh air to his soul.

The Heroine
Daisy Merrick, is very trusting and believes in those that are close to her.  Daisy's mother died before she could ever get to know her, and her father became a drunk and broke promises to her, and yet despite all that, she continues to believe in people. Then she has a chance to publish her writing, but only with the help of Sebastian Grant, whose earlier works inspired her. Now if she can help him to start writing once more, she can accomplish her dream of becoming something great for once in her life. Daisy doubts herself and her looks, thinking she is not pretty, especially not compared to her sister, and far too opinionated for any man to accept in her, that is until she meets Sebastian who unsettles her.

My Thoughts
With Seduction In Mind is the fourth in the Girl-Bachelor series written by Laura Lee Guhrke. Now this series is about young women who are independent, outspoken and both the hero and heroine have yet to find love.  I have truly been entertained by this series, and With Seduction In Mind definitely hit the bar. I love the whole interaction between the characters, both witty and sensual. At the beginning it started out slow, and things in the story didn't really pick up for me until halfway through the book, but once I got to that point I just had to flip through the pages to see what would happen between Daisy and Sebastian. One of the things that I just loved about this book was how engaging the story and the characters were to this reader, and I felt emotionally involved like I was drawn into the story, and seemed very riveting, and I wont lie, but brought a tear to the eye, especially at the end. One of the things I didn't like however was I wished it didn't drag a bit at the beginning, But definitely a satisfying read!!

My Favorite Quote
And I want you to marry me, and come back to Avermore with me, and write your books right across from where I write mine, so that whenever I am working, I can see your sweet, freckled face.
