Book Review-The Immortal Hunter

The Immortal Hunter
Argeneau (11) Rogue Hunter(2)
Lynsay Sands
Avon
360 Pages
Published April 2009
Paperback
Vampire
ISBN: 978-0-06-147430-9
Synopsis:
Even vampires need a vacation. But Decker Argeneau's ends abruptly when he's asked to help hunt the group of rogue vampires targeting mortals -- one that might include a defector in his own family. Before he can worry about that, though, he's got to rescue the latest victim. It's all part of the job, including taking a bullet for a beautiful doctor.
Dr. Danielle McGill doesn't know if she can trust the man who just saved her life. There are too many questions, such as what is the secret organization he says he's part of, and why do his wounds hardly bleed? However, with her sister in the hands of some dangerous men, she doesn't have much choice but to trust him.
Except now Decker's talking about life mates and awakening a passion that's taking Dani beyond anything she's ever known. Being undead may not be half-bad...especially if it means spending forever with a man who would love her with his mind, body, and immortal soul.

MY REVIEW

Summary:
After going hunting in search of a rogue vampire, who is also his cousin, Nicholas, one who has been on the run for over fifty years. Now they are following his very obvious trail, which leaves Decker worried. But then when they catch up to him, they join him in hunting down six dangerous vampires who have captured two innocent women, sisters. But after they take down five of them, one of them escapes with the youngest girl, and the one left behind with her rescuers are Decker and Justin. Nicholas is out of their range once more. But their attention is focused on Dani who is desperate to find her sister, and she turns out to be Decker's lifemate. Decker is stunned at first, and finds this revelation to be unexpected, but he knows he has to earn her trust, however he keeps lying to her, which prevents her from trusting him and intent on finding her sister. However even though Dani is determined to find her sister, who is only fifteen, there is a chemistry between her and Decker, and even though she doesn't trust him, she is drawn to him and finds herself falling hard and fast for him....

The Hero (Decker Argeneau Pimms)
Decker, a immortal and a rogue hunter. Decker is surprised to be following his cousins trail after fifty years of never being able to find him, and is wary. What he never expected to find was his cousin hunting rogues, even though he is a rogue as well, but when it came down to taking down Nicholas or six rogues, he knows there are two innocents that are more important. What he didn't expect was to discover his lifemate as one of the women he intended on rescuing. One who doesn't trust him, but trusts Nicholas more...even though he is rogue. Decker was born immortal, has given up sex and food for over 80 years. Now however after meeting his life mate, his appetites return with full force, and he starts falling in love with this one woman who awakens all of his senses...

The Heroine (Danielle McGill)
Dani, is a Gynecologist and set up a practice on her own, and has of late been very busy with her work. But then she decides to go on a trip with her sister for a family get together, however on the way to her uncle's home, she and her sister are taken by "monsters" and later learn that they are vampires. Dani doesn't think there is any hope of them surviving until she is rescued by three men, one of whom she is physically attracted to. However Dani needs to find her sister, who is only fifteen years old.  What Dani never realized was how much Decker means to her, and that she wants to be with him forever.

My Thoughts
The Immortal Hunter is part of two series written by Lynsay Sands....its the eleventh installment in the Argeneau series, and the second in the rogue hunter series. The Immortal Hunter takes the reader on a thrilling ride of suspense, adventure and romance. There is such a intensity about this story, where two people find each other, when if certain events hadn't ever occured they might have never have found one another, acts although done is violence, brought about a silver lining. There was also such a witty rapore between the characters in this book, and it was great to see characters from other books involved in this story as well such as Lucian (who is my personal favorite) and Samantha (whom anyone that has read her story just adores her) so it was lovely to see it all come together in this story, and looking forward to reading the next one in the series: Nicholas' story...I can hardly wait....this series so far has been such a delightful dessert to read!!

My Favorite Quote In This Book

"You do, just by being here. I can't imagine facing all this alone" She slipped her hand into his, squeezing it. "I guess that's what love is, sharing the good and the bad, the happy and the sad"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The few and the proud are the U.S. Marines," Justin, informed her, seeming rather amused "We CSIS men..."he paused to cast a taunting glance toward Decker and then continued "We CSIS guys are the Cute, Strong, Intelligent, and Sexy" In the looks department the man fit the James Bond image of a spy, she thought. It was just a shame that he was missing the "intelligent" from the Cute, Strong, Intelligent, and Sexy quota.
Book Review-A Highland Duchess
Paperback
Victorian/Scottish Highlands
ISBN: 978-0-06-177184-2
Synopsis
The beautiful but haughty Duchess of Herridge is known to all the "ton" as the "Ice Queen." But to Ian McNair, the exquisite Emma is nothing like the rumors. Sensual and passionate, she moves him as no other woman has before. If only she were his wife and not his captive . . .
Little does Emma know that the dark and mysterious stranger who bursts into her bedroom to kidnap her is the powerful Earl of Buchane, and the only man who has been able to see past her proper faCade. As the Ice Queen's defenses melt under the powerful passion she finds with her handsome captor, she begins to believe that love may be possible. Yet fate has decreed that the dream can never be--for pursuing it means sacrificing everything they hold dear: their honor, their futures . . . and perhaps their lives.
MY REVIEW
Summary:
Emma, Duchess and a recent widow, is still in her mourning period, but about to come out of it. Then he uncle informs her that she is to be married again, willingly or not, she has no choice in the matter. Then that night, a stranger comes into her bedroom and kidnaps her for he is in search of a mirror, a gift from her late husband, that she had practically forgotten about. Now Emma is his captive, and send her uncle a ransom: the mirror, for his niece. However it is apparent that her uncle could care less if she ends up not returning to him dead or alive, ever since her husbands death, has gambled away her fortune and if she were dead he would have full access to it. Emma even though captured, has felt more at home with Ian that she has ever been with anyone else, and she opens her heart to him, even knowing that there is no future for them, for she is to marry another, as is he.....but sometimes the matters of the heart have a way of disrupting best laid plans....
The Hero (Ian Macnair)
Ian, is a scot and engaged to be married to a young woman, who is the daughter of his partner in science. He is fond of her, but doesn't love her. Now he needs the mirror and she is the only person he knows of that has possession of it. However he never expected to be able to break through the barrier of the "Ice Queen" and reach the real Emma, who has a heart of gold, and a passion that will match his. Ian even though strong, handsome and dangerous, is also searching for love, but has yet to find it, until he falls for Emma, whom he desperately wants in his life. Ian, knowing of her past, has never judged her, and has just accepted her as who she is, a woman worthy of love....
The Heroine (Emma Herrige)
Emma, Duchess of Herrige, and late widow, has not been dealt fairness in her young life. Both under her uncle and recent husbands control. She has always been the Ice Queen, never the Emma as she once was when she was a young girl, full of life and passion for everything around her. Now all she knows is pain and fear. She has never had hope or love, until a stranger kindaps her in the night, and shows her what the road to freedom tastes like, a road Emma believes she can never travel. But life is full of surprise and unexpected events will change her into the woman she was suppose to have been....
My Thoughts
A Highland Duchess is the most recent book from Karen Ranney. As far as romances go, this was a average read for me. I could get into the story, but it wasn't like I couldn't put it down, I actually ended up pausing multiple times through the story. It wasn't a enlightening read or enchanting, but there was a drama about the story that held a certain appeal for me. I have usually enjoyed reading books from this author, so I was surprised when I had such a challenging time getting through this one. I found that there wasn't much consistency of engaging the reader much. The story had some flow, but it could be erratic at times. I did enjoy the characters and the emotional side of the story. There were parts of the story that drew me, but there were other parts, where I had to force myself to read through it. Overall it was a enjoyable read, but not one I would want to buy or re read....
My Favorite Quote
"I may be a pariah, Ian, but I would also be a partner. I would be there to listen to you complain, to hear your theories, to tell you that you're marvelous"
Book Review-The Devil Wears Plaid
The Devil Wears Plaid
Highland (1)
Teresa Medeiros
Pocket Books
407 Pages
Published Sep 2010
Scottish Highlands
ISBN: 978-1-4391-5788-6
Synopsis:
AN INNOCENT WOMAN
Emmaline Marlow is about to wed the extremely powerful laird of the Hepburn clan to save her father from debtor's prison when ruffian Jamie Sinclair bursts into the abbey on a magnificent black horse and abduts her in one strong swoop. Though he is Hepburn's sworn enemy, Emma's mysterious captor is everything her bridegroom is not--handsome, virile, dangerous...and a perilous temptation for her yearning heart.
A DANGEROUS MAN
Jamie expects Emma to be some milksop English miss, not a fiery, defiant beauty whose irresistible charms will tempt him at every turn. But he cannot allow either one of them to forget he is her enemy and she his pawn in the deadly Highland feud between the clans. Stealing his enemy's bride was simple, but can he claim her innocence without losing his heart?
Summary
Emmaline, out of duty and obligation, consented to marry the Earl of Hepburn, but knew in her heart she could never love him. Emmaline knows that marrying the powerful laird, she is only saving her family from ruin, and after sacrificing so much of herself for her family, she is also willing to marry a stranger in order to secure their future. But right before she says her vows, a dangerous highlander, enemy to her groom to be, kidnaps her. He is opposite of her groom in every way, handsome, virile, and sexy. Especially at first Emmaline is outraged at being taken by this highlander, however she knows that there is more to meet the eye when it comes to Jamie Sinclair and his men. So Emmaline starts to doubt what she previously had thought about the Earl and starts to believe and trust in the outlaw, scoundrel and man of her heart....James Sinclair
The Hero (James Alistair Sinclair)
Jamie, taking after his ancestors and the Highland tradition, steals his enemy's bride, but never thought he would be driven to it. Jamie is determined to get back what was stolen from the Sinclair Clan, no matter the cost, even kidnapping a innocent woman. What Jamie never expected was not to find a simpering miss in his arms, but a fiery spirited woman, who doesn't back down from him. And before he realizes it, Jamie doesn't want to let go of the woman who holds his heart and he never wants her to leave him.
The Heroine (Emmaline Marlowe)
Emmaline, dreamed of her wedding day, of giving her heart to someone who loved her and whom she was completly devoted to, however not all dreams come true, and Emmaline knows it is one dream that won't be coming true for her. Emmaline has always been a devoted daughter to her parents, never rebelling and always obeying them. Now she has to marry a old Laird and Earl, whom might be very powerful, but doesn't stir up her passions like she has dreamed of. But when she is kidnapped at the alter, by the most handsome man she has come across, she wonders if fate has a way of interfering and showing her hearts desire in this one man, one who will change her life...forever. Emmaline is a heroine filled with deep desires and passions, but has had to supress them most of her life. She has never fallen in love like she has dreamed. Emmaline despite her obedient nature to her family, has a inner fire that needs a outlet, and the man who kidnaps her is the perfect outlet to bring out the true heroine in this book. Emmaline is strong, determine, loyal and ever persistent in finding her true love.
My Thoughts
The Devil Wears Plaid, is a bit different scenery from all the other books that Teresa Medieros has written. The Devil Wears Plaid is a powerful story of two people that were so different from each other, but yet so right for one another. At the beginning of the story we see Emmaline and Jamie collide in tempers and passions, but as events surrounding them only escalate in danger and mystery, does the love for each other blossom. I found that I couldn't put this one down, and before I knew it, the story was over and I was felt like "where did all the time go??" This has such a entrancing story line, one that will ensnare your attention from the first page and won't let you go until the very end....definitely a romance you don't want to miss out on. Teresa Medeiros does deliver.....and this one for me is a 5 rating!!! It compelely and deliciously won me over! The passion, the characters, the plot, the charming story, a magical read!!!
My Favorite Quote
"What are you doing?" she whispered, torn between hope and alarm.
"Making the biggest mistake of my life," he said grimly, before dragging her into his arms and claiming her lips in a wild and desperate kiss that stole both her breath and heart away.
Can You Imagine (3)
'Can You Imagine' is a weekly meme hosted by Heather on A Bibliophile's Paradise
The idea of this meme is for you to imagine whats going to happen next in your book and why. You can talk about a particular Character(s), the plot, ect. Try not to contain any spoilers.  Once your half way through your book start thinking about what's going to happen. If you read several books a week then you can have several "Can You Imagine..." posts, you can just do one once a week, or whenever you feel like it. I plan on posting one every Thursday, at least. I know it will be hard but try not to contain spoilers or at least to many, that stop others from reading the book for themselves. This meme is for others to get excited and want to read the book(s) for themselves and see how it ends.
I am a little more than halfway through The Devil Wears Plaid, Emmaline has been kindapped by James Sinclair, and at the point where I am at, there is a sensual tension between the two, but there is also a emotional tie that is building as well, but a certain lack of trust that still needs to be built. I imagine that there will be something that will happen to Emmaline to have her to start trusting in Jamie and I can imagine that he will get what is rightfully his once again...at least I hope so
Synopsis
SINS THAT CAN'T BE FORGIVEN
Tristan MacGregor is famed throughout the Highlands as a silver-tonged seducer and an unrepentant rogue. Bold and charming, he's dallied with many women, yet none as mysterious as the lass he steals a kiss from at king's court. Little does he know this beauty is one of his clan's greatest enemies.
PASSION THAT CAN'T BE DENIED
Isobel Fergusson has despised the bloodthirsty MacGregors ever since they murdered her father. She's horrified to learn that the handsome stranger she kissed is of this clan. But Tristan means to possess her at any cost and Isobel's body turns traitor at his touch. Can a man she's sworn to hate be the only one she can ever love?
Summary:
Isobel Fegusson comes to England with her brother's for the King's coronation. But one day, out walking, she stumbles across a handsome highlander who is charming and simply irrisistable and a danger to any woman. But then Isobel finds out that they are enemies. the MacGregors killed her father out of revenge for her father killing Tristan's uncle. Isobel and Tristan are forbidden from seeing each other by their own kin, however Tristan finds Isobel irrisistable and searches her home out, ends up injured and spends quite some time with Isobel and her brothers, and their feelings for each other are stronger than any feud...
The Hero (Tristan MacGregor)
Tristan  is a lover of the lases, but when he meets Isobel she challenges him more than any other. Isobel intrigues him, and ever since he met her he craves her. So despite his better logic, he goes with his gut feeling and goes searching for her, even though knowing that their families are enemies, however he doesn't see Isobel as a enemy. As he spends even more time with her and her brothers, he figures that the Fergussons aren't as bad as his clan claims, and is determined to keep Isobel in his life, even if he has to give up his family and clan. Tristan despite being a rascal when it comes to the women, doesn't have the highest of self esteem, not really thinking he has a place with his family, however he starts to believe in himself again and in his love that he has for Isobel.
Isobel however is disarmed completely when she meets Tristan who is the most determined man she has ever met, a man that wants her despite the fact that they are enemies.
My Thoughts
Seduced by a Highlander is the second installment in the Children Of The Mist by Paula Quinn. I have always enjoyed reading from Paula Quinn, but I have just loved this series so far.... such a great plot twist to the story, with mystery, romance, intrigue, and a intensity about the story. The characters throughout this book were very engaging and have met their match it seems as their interaction with one another is explosive at times, the passion between these two is sizzling. Such a gripping romance that will have you at the edge of your seats...Definitely deserves a 4 1/2 in my book.....such a charming tale with  such well portrayed story that will take you back through time to medieval Scotland......in two words COMPLETELY WONDERFUL!!!
My Favorite Quote
"Ye are the delight of my heart. I would give up anything for ye; my honor, my kin, my life. I want to take care of ye, provide for ye, hear yer laughter, yer voice every day. I will no' give up until ye are mine, so ye might as well marry me now and save yerself the trouble."
A Warrior Of Immortal Powers
He was a mighty Scottish warrior who lived in a world bound by ancient laws and timeless magic. But no immortal powers could prepare the laird of Castle Brodie for the lovely accursed lass who stood before him. A terrible trick of fate had sent her 700 years back in time and into his private chamber to tempt him with her beauty-and seduce him with a desire he could never fulfill. For this woman he burned to possess was also
the woman he had foresworn to destroy.
A Woman Caught In The Mists Of Time
When Lisa felt the earth move under her feet, the fiercely independent 21st-century woman never dreamed she was falling...into another century. But the powerful, naked warrior who stood glaring down at her was only too real...and too dangerously arousing. Irresistibly handsome he might be, but Lisa had no intention of remaining in this savage land torn by treachery and war. How could she know that her seductive captor had other plans for her...plans that would save her from a tragic fate? Or that this man who had long ago forsaken love would defy time itself to claim her for his own....
MY REVIEW
Summary:
My Thoughts
The Highlanders Touch is the third installment in the Highland series by Karen Marie Moning. I haven't read the fever series yet, but her highland series I have just fallen for completely. I have enjoyed each of her books in the series so far, especially since I love anything romances to do with the Scottish Highlands. One of the things I didn't expect when I first started reading this one, was how emotional this book would become for the reader, from beginning to end the plot was filled with excitement, adventure and lots of romance. The relationship between the two especially at first is a bit rocky, but there is a connection between the two and we see the first seeds of their love for each other. I loved both of these characters, they were full of depth and likeable. There was also a level of emotion that is portrayed throughout the book, that will touch any reader deeply. I absolutely adored reading this, and was such a magical read!!!
Can You Imagine (2)
'Can You Imagine' is a weekly meme hosted by Heather on A Bibliophile's Paradise
The idea of this meme is for you to imagine whats going to happen next in your book and why. You can talk about a particular Character(s), the plot, ect. Try not to contain any spoilers.  Once your half way through your book start thinking about what's going to happen. If you read several books a week then you can have several "Can You Imagine..." posts, you can just do one once a week, or whenever you feel like it. I plan on posting one every Thursday, at least. I know it will be hard but try not to contain spoilers or at least to many, that stop others from reading the book for themselves. This meme is for others to get excited and want to read the book(s) for themselves and see how it ends.
I have read through most of the first half of this book, and this is what I Imagine will happen throughout the story....Lisa has been thrust back into 700 years in medieval Scotland, and Circern, thinks she is innocent, but its his oath to destroy her, but I think what will happen is that he will fall in love with her, and either find a way to keep her and not have to break his oath, or because of his love for her he will break it...and Lisa even though desperate to return home, will want to stay with Circern, I have no doubt there will something that will separate them perhaps for a time, which will make them both realize how strong their love is....
The Hero
Anthony Bridgerton, worshiped his father growing up, but then his father died at the age of 38, and Anthony was devastated by the loss, and a part of him doesnt think he is good enough, or that he will live longer than 38. Anthony has spent the past decade in pursuit of all different kinds of pleasure, and all the while still seeing to his obligations as head of the family. The Heroine
Kate Sheffield, is at the age of twenty one and according to some "on the shelf" and has just started her first season at the same time as her younger sister. With her father's passing away, their funds were needed to be stretched, and could only afford to have one season, which means that Kate and Edwina have one chance to find husbands. For Kate, she couldn't care less about finding a husband or the season, growing up she never learned much about etiquette that all the other girls learned from childhood.Kate is very protective of her younger sister, so when she learns of Anthony's interest in Edwina, Kate is even more determined to make sure he stays away from her, but never expected that she would start falling for the Viscount herself.
My Thoughts
The Viscount Who Loved Me is the second installment in the Bridgerton series written by Julia Quinn. I have just loved this series and could read these books over and over, I just fall in love with the stories and characters all over again every time I read her books, and I just fell in love with Kate and Anthony. Anthony has always held a certain place in my heart, he is the type of hero that even on the outside seems like a rogue, on the inside he has suffered his own kind of pain and grief, and fears the future, but is a charming devil. I love the characters in this story, very likable. The story was filled with witty interaction, romance, and a few surprises along the way....a very Enjoyable story that will satisfy any romantic heart.
