Synopsis
Montana Territory in 1883 was a dangerous place--especially for a blind woman struggling to make her way through an early winter snowstorm. Undaunted, Noelle Kramer fought to remain independent. But then a runaway horse nearly plunged her into a rushing, ice-choked river, before a stranger's strong, sure hand saved her from certain death.

And yet this was no stranger. Though she could not know it, her rescuer was rancher Thad McKaslin, the man who had once loved her more than life itself. Losing her had shaken all his most deeply held beliefs. Now he wondered if the return of this strong woman was a sign that somehow he could find his way

My Review
Homespun Bride was a short and sweet story, and I was lucky that it came free on Kindle. Its about two people that once loved each other very much, but Noelle's father practically drove Thad away, now five years later, Noelle has lost her parents in a accident and in that same accident she lost her eyesight, and the man she was supposed to marry abandoned her because she couldn't see. Then when she and her aunt end up in a bit of trouble, Thad comes in like a conquering hero to save the day, and when she realizes who saves them, she is shocked to the core, and hurt at the same time, since she loved him more than anyone else, and he abandoned her without a word. However there is a love that is rekindled even brighter than before. I just loved the whole story, the characters were both so likeable and endearing, and it was such a fun short romance that ended up being a enjoyable read you can relax with.

The train whistle blew a second time. The sleigh jerked to a sudden stop. Noelle slid forward on the seat and something hard struck her chin. Pain exploded through her jaw, as she realized she'd hit the dashboard. Was that high, shrill buglin neigh coming from their horse? Sure enough, she could feel his huge body block the wind as he reared up. For one breathless moment, she feared he might fall on them.

My Thoughts
What The Heart Knows is a single title by Kathleen Eagle, I think though I had high expectations from this book, and I found myself pretty disappointed throughout the whole novel. I have read a few books by Kathleen Eagle, and I think there has only been one or two that I ended up satisfied with. What The Heart Knows started out ok, and I was hoping it would just get better, but the flow was uneven and static at times. The story line was the best part of the book, but I just felt from beginning to end I had to force myself to get through it, I almost gave up on it, but I stuck with it, hoping it would get better however I only ended up in a spirit of frustration and how I seemed to get lost at times, and I felt like there could have more substance to the characters. I hope the next book I read from this author is much better.

ARC Book Review-Wanted Undead or Alive

Wanted: Undead or Alive
Love At Stake (12)
Kerrelyn Sparks
Avon Romance
ARC E Book
Published March 2012
374 Pages
Vampire Romance
ISBN 9780061958069
Synopsis
He's a vampire from the big city . . .

Phineas McKinney thought New York City was tough, until he was attacked by Malcontents—evil vampires who consider mortals to be snacks. Saved by the good vampires, Phin swore to devote his now undead life to stopping the Malcontents. He's got his job cut out for him when word comes that their enemy may be hiding in Wyoming. What does a city boy like him know about horses and campfires? Good thing he's got Brynley Jones with him . . . if only she didn't hate every vampire on earth.

She's a werewolf princess . . .

Bryn believes vampires are seductive and charming, and that makes them dangerous. So she's more than a little annoyed about teaming up with Phin, even if he is the only bloodsucker able to make her inner wolf purr. But as they hunt down the new leader of the Malcontents, danger threatens . . . and Phineas and Brynley discover a passion that will rock the foundation of their supernatural world.

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Phineas, ever since he was turned against his will by the Malcontents has devoted himself to protecting the innocent and destroying those that desire to destroy everything they have built. After a failed run of trying to capture the queen of the malcontents, he finds out that she is located in Wyoming, where the nest of werewolves are, and he needs a guide or risk detection by the werewolves. So his guide happens to be the one woman he has had a crush on ever sine he met her, Brinley Jones, who escaped her father and ended up teaching young boys that were kicked out by the head pack leader her father. Now when Brinley and Phineas are thrown together, there is a chemistry that sparks up between them that leads to fireworks, but there is one problem....how can a werewolf and a vampire make it work? Phineas loves Brinley and will do whatever it takes to keep her in his arms...even if that means confronting her father, which may start a war.

The Hero (Phineas McKinney)
Phineas, to save his family from debt got involved with drugs, and then was captured by the malcontents and turned a vampire but then was saved by the good vampires and ever since has been trying to make up for his past mistakes. Phineas, however wants one thing that he wonders if he will ever find...a true connection, a love match that all of his friends have been able to find apart from him even though he is the 'love doctor' doesn't guarantee love for him. Until he meets up with Brinley, a woman he has obsessed over for years, he knows he will never be the same...

The Heroine (Brinley Jones)
Brin, is a werewolf and is the daughter of the head clan leader, and when her father was going to force her to marry someone she knew would just cast her aside, she  abandoned her pack and her family and decided to make a life for herself. She is now teaching the 'lost boys' who were rejected from the pack so that they would have a place to go to ...a refuge. When Phineas comes to her for help, she agrees, even if he is a bloodsucker, but he is the only man that makes both the human and the wolf part of her purr instantly, and she knows that he is the one that can make her heart pound and her blood sing...

My Thoughts
Wanted Undead or Alive is the most recent book by Kerrelyn Sparks. Sparks is probably one of my favorite authors to read when it comes to vampire romances. And I have to say ever since Phineas came onto the scene, I have been looking forward to his story, so I was way excited to get a chance to read and boy did I just love it. I must have read in a few hours, I was so into the story I couldn't get away, it just drew me like a bee to honey. One of the aspects that I really love was the conflict that is in the plot here, this story is a bit of a forbidden love type. Because of Brin's connection to the werewolves it is dangerous for her to pursue any sort of relationship with anyone her father would dissaprrove of because more than likely something dire would happen to him. But no matter how much Brinley tries to protect herself, she finds herself falling in love with him anyway. The only problem I had was the cover, its not very observant according to characteristics in the book. Since the hero is black not caucasian, but its still a hot cover! Overall Wanted Undead or Alive is probably one of my favorite books of the series so far. Definitely full of everything that makes for an Amazing read! Full of romance and passion, strong story plot, witty characters and enough excitement and danger to satisfy any's reader taste. A Winner!!!!

On My Wishlist (29)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming.

In the darkest corners of the night in Caldwell, New York, a conflict like no other rages. The city is home to a band of brothers born to defend their race: the warrior vampires of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.

Now back in the Brotherhood - and unrecognisable as the vampire leader he once was - Tohrment is physically emaciated and heartbroken beyond despair. When he begins to see his beloved in his dreams - trapped in a cold, isolating netherworld - Tohr turns to a self-serving fallen angel in hopes of saving the one he has lost. When he's told he must learn to love another to free his former mate, Tohr knows they are all doomed . . .

Except then a female with a shadowed history begins to get through to him. Against the backdrop of the raging war with the lessers, and with a new clan of vampires vying for the Blind King's throne, Tohr struggles between the buried past, and a very hot, passion-filled future . . . but can his heart let go and set all of them free?

Marriage was her only means of escape . . .

Though Honora Tannach came of age amid the misty moors of the Scottish highlands, where warring clans battled to the death for the future of their wild land, nothing frightens her so much as a lifetime trapped in the castle of her cruel stepfather. She is thrilled when a marriage is arranged to the son of a Scottish laird . . . until her betrothed is revealed to be Cavan Sinclare. Though the savage warrior once saved her life, Honora knows no one can tame the heart of such a brute, no matter now finely chiseled his features or how enticing his eyes . . . .

After escaping his captors, Cavan's only concern is protecting his clan from the menacing invaders who threaten at every turn--and his beautiful wife is a dangerous distraction. But in the face of fiery passion, their reluctance will fade . . . and Cavan will discover that there is no greater strength than the power of true love.

It made no difference that she fought him tooth and nail, refusing to bend her proud spirit to his will. All that mattered was the searing ecstasy she would know when he branded her soul with his smouldering love...

NEW SOUTH WALES, 1807 -- It was a vast land of wild beauty and wilder passions; a frontier as yet untamed by man; a place where women had few rights and fewer pleasures.

For a female convict like flame-haired Casey O'Cain it was a living nightmare. Exquisitely beautiful, utterly helpless, she was expected to cater to her master's every whim. And from the first, arrogant, handsome Dare Penrod made it clear what he wanted of her. Casey knew she should fight him with every breath in her body, but her heart told her he could make a paradise of this wilderness for her. His callused hands took rights she should never have granted, his warm lips whispered of pelasures she had never known, and his hard body promised a love she would never relinquish.

My Thoughts
I don't think I have ever read from this author until know, and since I just love shifter romances, this book just drew me and the cover is so incredibly sexy that I couldn't resist. I did enjoy the style of writing that Susan Krinard displays but its a bit more detailed and more intense and vivid, and I will admit there were moments throughout where I was totally drawn into it, however there were others where it was such a book to be content in. Overall it was a enjoyable story, one you read by the fire or out in the sunlight on a warm day, a story to be enjoyed but not one that will totally captivate you. Although I would recommend this author to anyone that is looking for an intense and enjoyable romance that will softly carry one away into the world Krinard creates.

Only he never expected that his wife would drive both himself and his whole clan up the wall...

The Heroine (Mairin  Stuart)

Mairin has dreamed of a noble man worthy of protecting her but also one that could love her as well, and she never thought that that one man would be her husband...

My Thoughts
In Bed With A Highlander is the first in the series and I would have to say my absolute favorite book in the trilogy. I normally don't read many books from Maya Banks but I am so glad that I picked this trilogy up....definitely well worth the reading and and I just have the greatest weakness for Highland romances, but I would say this book is at the top of the list. I just loved how feisty Mairin was in the book and how Ewan could be so hilarious in his stubborn and protective nature. There were so many instances throughout the novel here that I just laughed harder than I have in a long time. The story plot was so full of surprises and twists and turns that almost could make one's head spin. There was such substance and a sense of fun throughout the plot and the characters. The romance and the love scenes were definitely at the top and full of heat and sensuality. I absolutely loved In Bed With A Highlander and one I would recommend to anyone that enjoys a romance that is full of delight and beautiful and tender scenes that will pull at the strings of your heart.

My Favorite Quote
"Nay, I will not. You cannot order me to trust you. Why, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard." He sensed she was warming up for a full length diatribe, so he did the one thing he knew would silence her. He rapidly closed the distance between them, curled his hands around her upper arms, and hauled her upward. His lips found hers in a heated rush, her gasp of outrage swallowed up by his mouth. She was soft all over, and she fit him like his sword fit his hand. Perfectly.
