My Review
I was shocked when I saw a copy of the newest book of Karen Hawkins, available on the library shelf. Normally I would have to wait months sometimes a year, before it would become available. Let me tell you, I grabbed it faster than I could breath air. I have always had a deep appreciation for Karen Hawkins. She was the first author that I read that made me fall in love with romance. If any of you like a bit of witty YA romance, that is set in the historical time period--starts with Catherine and the Pirate--one of my all time favorite books, and is probably the reason I am still in love with romance, especially historical romance. There is so much talent in Karen Hawkins voice, and I would swear that How to Pursue a Princess is one of her best so far!! There were so many things that I enjoyed about this story, so first let me talk about the actual story.
When Lily and her younger sister learn that their father has come into some big debt, that will have to be paid quite soon, within the month, so knows that with the large quantity due, she will have no choice to marry. So she sends a request to her aunt the Duchess, who sets up a house country party, where she will try to match her with the Earl of Huntley. But when she leaves for a few moments on a ride, she ends up getting hurt, and she finds herself getting rescued by the most gorgeous yet stubborn man. Large and overbearing, Prince Wulfinski. When Wulf first sees Lily, he is captivated by her engaging eyes, and wild hair that only stimulates his senses. He knows that she is his future mate, but he must convince her first. Lily finds herself revealing all of her secrets to Wulf, and she wonders if circumstances were different that they might have had a future together. But believing he is a poor prince, she knows she has no choice but to marry the Earl, because her family is depending on her. But will she choose her duty over her family, or her love for Wulf, who makes her feel more alive than ever before.
How To Pursue A Princess is a astounding read!! I felt myself utterly captivated from the fast paced plot to the deep sensuality that develops into a powerful love story! There was quite a bit I loved about this one. First is the hero...*sigh*, boy was I impressed. He is from another country, and could care less about society's rules, and is very blunt and says what exactly is on his mind, and isn't modest about it. He above all was my favorite character, and my favorite hero from this author. I would trade places with Lily any day of the week! When he goes after Lily to convince her to choose love over duty to her family, he is very tenacious and stubborn with the issue, much to my delight. I love a man who knows what he wants and charges after it. This newest addition to the Duchess series is a tale full of witty humor, sensational fun, and has a refreshing flavor to it that only ends up captivating its reader. SPLENDIDLY WELL DONE!!! My Grade

My Review
Summary
When Rose was seventeen, she was very innocent and impulsive, and kissed Lord Sinclair, but overwhelmed by the sensations, ended up pushing him into a fountain and fleeing the scene and hiding from everyone inculding him, and leaving him to face the consequences, and Lord Sinclair has been wanting revengefor six years, and has found her again and is determined to get back at her, only he never thought he would fall in love with her. Rose, regretting her foolish act six years ago, has lived in the countryside taking care of her father and sisters, but when she is invited to a house party by her godmother (also Lord Sinclair's Aunt), she knows she has no choice but to except, especially for her sister's sake. However when she bumps into Lord Sinclair, she is shocked to see him again, but she starts to feel alive whenever he is near, and even though they are in one wager after another, she starts to fall in love with him again, but doesn't know if she can truly trust in their love and in Lord Sinclair......

My Thoughts
How To Capture A Countess is the first of a new series "The Duchess Diaries" by Karen Hawkins. Karen Hawkins has been one of my favorite authors, and I just loved the energy of this new book, it definitely had Hawkins spark and flair, and the story had the same feeling of fun and humor that I have always seen in the past. Lord Sinclair, just cracked me up especially in the beginning, especially his attitude toward life, and women, and I loved the playful interaction between Lord Sin and Rose. I also loved the spirit of Rose Balfour, at first she seems timid and reserved, but as the book progresses she comes out of her shell into a playful and full of life heroine, that you just want to cheer her on......a beautifully written romance filled with passion, zest and humor that will definitely enthrall you for more!!! A Must Read!!!

My Thoughts
A Most Dangerous Profession is the third installment in this exciting series by Karen Hawkins. I have to say this would have to be one of my top favorite series done by this author. There was such intrigue, passion, danger and excitement and fully packed with enough love story to last one quite some time.The one aspect that I truly enjoyed was the 'secret baby' theme, I just love reading those theme like romances, especially it exceeds your expectations....Moira has just cracked me up through the whole book, and Robert was pretty swell....and the little daughter was as cute as can be....I found myself totally engrossed in the story and the details painted so vividly that one couldn't help but fall in love. A Treasure to be savored and enjoyed.

Scandal In Scotland is the second installment in the series and even though there were many moments that I immersed myself in, it was probably my least favorite so far. There were many elements to the book that I really enjoyed. I loved the interaction between the two main characters, the plot was full of excitement and ups and down that can make your head spin. The one thing I would wish was different was the flow, it was uneven and I just felt like it could have been a bit smoother and then it would have been perfect. Overall it was a delicious treat to be savored!!! My Grade On This Book

One Night in Scotland is the first book in the Hurst Amulet series, and I have always loved her books and this was pretty amazing, not my favorite of hers, but enthralling and was like many of her other books where it just draws you into the story vividly. One of the things that I loved about this book is how perfect both Mary and Angus seem to be for each other, even though there are some pretty heated arguments, and violent tantrums that just made me laugh, and think 'oh boy, I hope I never meet a man that makes me want to sing like a banchee or an opera singer just to get his attention'. Although once I really got into the, I started to find myself really enjoying the story, the characters, the plot and the amusing interaction between the characters, that made it a fun tale of romance with a hint of mystery that will make you not want to put the book down and keep on reading until the sun goes down.

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Julia Frant, in a case of mistaken identity, gets taken by the one man that she has loved for over four years, Alec MacLean. Alec MacLean in order for him to get his inheritance and keep it from his cousin, must marry by a appointed day and live free of scandal for one year. Julia Frant see's this as a opportunity as her dream of being with Alec, whom she has loved for four years, finally coming true when she thought it would be impossible. She also after coming into a agreement with Alec will have access to funds inorder to help with her efforts to help those that are less fortunate than herself and in need of help to better their lives. For this is one of Julia's greatest passions in life. After marrying Alec, Julia goes through a wonderous transformation that stuns Alec, from a plan jane to a beautiful woman that stirs up every desire. Alec finds himself hesitant to be too far from Julia's side, and he cant help but want her, only her. Even though at time her do-gooder ways frustrate him to no end, her passion for everything in her life draws him like nothing else could.
The Hero
Alec MacLean, the fifth Viscount Hunterston, must keep the fortune from his grandfather, from his cousin's greedy hands. So to that end he must marry, within certain requirements, and remain scandal free for one year. Alec's grandfather raised him, but even though he respected his grandfather, he has never knew love between two people, and doesn't believe in it. Alec leads a life of scandal, he is far from eager to being shackled for the rest of his life, but when he ends up marring Julia he unexpectately finds that he is slowly falling in love, who starts to melt the ice around his heart.
The Heroine
Julia Frant, an American, who grew up in a loving home, with full knowledge of the love her parents felt for each other. Ever since she came to England, she has been in love with the one man she knows she could never have. but when a unexpected opportunity arises, where she can be with this man, that holds her heart. Julia truly cares for others around her, especially those in certain situations that are less than ideal and endeavors to help them at every opportunity. She is a stubborn character, having to always have things her way and never give in to anyone, especially Alec. But despite her flaws, she has a open and loving nature.
My Thoughts:
The Abduction of Julia is the first installment in the Abduction/Seduction Trilogy written by Karen Hawkins. As far as authors goes, this is one of the best in the romance industry, and you would definitely be missing out if you haven't read any of her books. The Abduction of Julia is about two people that are so much alike in temperment that they definitely clash heads, but the desire they feel for each other is just as strong, and over-rules any rational thought. Throughout the story we see two people, even though at odds for most of the book, they come together in the end, trusting in the love they have built, and definitely proves in this wonderfully written love story, how love does conquer any obstacle. The plot is filled with intrigue, danger, passion and a emotional cap to finish it with a wonderous story from beginning to end. Definitely kept me on my toes, and I could hardly read this book fast enough, it drew me in like a child to candy. One thing that I didn't like was the contention between this couple so much throughout the story, I kinda felt that there were times that it was petty, but this story was definitely filled with human aspects, that made it feel more real for this reader. So overall a good love story and looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the trilogy and by this author that I have yet to get my hands on!!!

Summary: Tristan Llevanth loved the sea and being aboard his ship, but when he is injured fighting side by side with Admiral Nelson, he has to give up what he loves, and his men come with him. Tristan settles in a house in the countryside that overlooks the ocean. And despite the peace he desires, he never manages to hold onto it. A neighbor widow, Prudence Thistlewaite, is definitely the bane of his existence and they tend to get on each other's nerves. Then Reeves (his late father's butler) tells him that he is the new earl, he needs to learn all the pompous rituals that come with the title and the money, which he desperately needs for his men. So Reeves has Prudence endeavor to teach Tristan, which is a sore trial in and of itself. And the more time they are alone together, passions ignite between the two of them, with the future uncertain if they could end up together in the end.
The Hero
Tristan Llevanth was a pirate of the sea, and ever since he was ten years old, has lived on a ship and the ocean, and has loved his life aboard. However after his leg gets injured he has to give his life up. Tristan is a twin, his mother died in prison, charged with treason, even though she was innocent, he has despised his father for not saving her in time, and lost his twin brother and has searched for him ever since. Now he has to take the title, if it means to help his men who are like family to him. And to contend with a widow, who threatens to take hold of his heart.
The Heroine
Prudence Thistlewaite, loved her husband but then he died and now lives with her mother, and about to set up a school for girls. But is utterly annoyed with Tristan and their tempers tend to fire up when they are near each other, but when he kisses her senseless, and everything changes for him, because she knows that she could very easily fall in love with this handsome rogue.
My Thoughts:
As much as I love this author, this is probably my least favorite book of Karen Hawkins. It took me a while to get into the story, and had to force myself to keep reading until I got into the story, which thankfully I did, but it seemed to take a while. There were certain aspects of the story that I really fell in love with though. The characters I found intriguing and utterly fascinating, and all of them had me at the very beginning. The plot was very mystery packed and filled with surprises, that will delight you. However I just found at the beginning the interaction between Prudence and Tristan, leaves much to be desired, however once the story really got going, then it started to even out, and I started to enjoy the story. But overall it was a good romance and was glad to finally read Tristan's story.

My Review:

Then her grandfather insists that she has a season in London, so she can find a husband. Beth doesn't want a husband, knowing that the only reason that she has any suitors is because of her large dowry that her grandfather has bestowed upon her, but then she meets Christian Llevanth, the Viscount Westerville, where rumors fly about him. Christian intrigues her, and Beth finds herself looking forward to their meets, and despite the fact that she isn't looking for a husband, she longs for his kisses, that throw all of her logic and reason out of the window. But there is so much more to Christian than meets the eye, especially when she figures out that he is looking into her grandfather, and knows that she must find out what he wants to know so badly about her grandfather, but will it destroy what they feel for one another? The Hero
Christian Llevanth, even though has inherited the title of Viscount, was definitely never raised in society. He used to be a highwayman, a dashing rake that the ladies swooned over. But there is alot more to Christian than his scandalous past, and his title as "Viscount". Christian loved his mother dearly, and hated his father, but he wants to find the truth behind his mother's death, who was a innocent bystander, and didn't deserve the kind of end fate dished out to her, so Christian is determined to find out the truth, and he knows that Beth's grandfather is behind it somehow. However he never expected that it would be so difficult to get through Beth, to get to her grandfather, she is certainly a challenge he never expected, and one that he wishes was in his bed.
The Heroine
Lady Elizabeth, has always wanted a serene life, out in the countryside, with her grandfather, and her books and garden. So when she hears that her grandfather insists on her going to London for a season, she does her best to persuade him otherwise, but unfortunately is unsuccessful. Therefore she comes up with a plan to keep all the men at bay. But then she comes across Christian, whose touch ignites her senses, and overthrows all her plans out the window for a long life on her own. Elizabeth is independent, and loves nature and being on her own, and is content to be a spinster, until she meets Christian, and now everything changes for her, especially when she figures out that he has plans for her grandfather, and Beth is determined to make sure he doesn't get what he is after.
My Thoughts
Her Officer And Gentleman is the sequel to Her Master and Commander, and I have yet to read the first one, but it turns out that I didn't need to, although after reading this one, that's next on my list for Karen Hawkins, that for sure. Her Officer and Gentleman, takes place in England, the Regency period. This is part of a duo series called "Just Ask Reeves" Reeves is their butler, and serves both brothers, which is what these two books are about. I have to be honest I did enjoy reading this book, but it took a little while to get into, and I didn't really get into it, until almost halfway through the book. I have always loved reading from Karen Hawkins, however this is probably one of my least favorite of hers, even though it was a great historical romance, and had some good attributes about it, but it just didn't click all the way for me. But what I did love about this story is the mystery and romance throughout the story. I will say that I did cry toward the end though, definitely had a emotional tie to the story, that really moved me, I just love the tender romantic endings.

My Review:
Alexander MacLean, the oldest of the Maclean clan, has been both amused yet frustrated by the enticing Caitlyn Hurst, then after the incident that trapped his brother into marriage, he desired revenge against her. However, he knew it wouldn't be easy, with Caitlyn matching him on every level. Caitlyn Hurst, even after seeing that her sister and her husband are very much in love, she wonders if she will ever be so lucky as to find that as well. She has been attracted to Alexander ever since she met him. Having shared some passionate embraces, she knows that there is something explosive between them. When she is invited to a house party, she never expected to see Alexander again, and its obvious that he is still furious over what had happened to his brother and is far from forgiveness. As time goes forward throughout the story, a battle of wills ensue, where a bet is made between Alexander and Caitlyn, but who will win? The battle of wills and love is on!
As much as I was looking forward to reading Alexander's story, I found that both of these characters in this story were a bit like little children fighting over a toy. It was a amusing story, and definitely had me laughing at quite a few moments, however it just seemed to be lacking in a strong and emotional side, that I like seeing from Karen Hawkins. Throughout the whole book I kept wondering when they were going to admit they love each other and get over the whole "I despise you" scenario, it got tedious after a while. There was some good passion in this story, and a strong plot, I think the characters were somewhat lacking. However despite the fact that I didn't like the attitude they had in the book, I did enjoy both of them. Alexander being the oldest, and the most furious temper of his whole family, has a lot of anger bottled up inside of him. Of course, Caitlyn is the focus of all that frustration. When they decide to act on a dangerous wager, they both are determined to win at any cost. Caitlyn, was the first to be sent out to society, and has always felt spirited, and never has held back from what she has wanted. When she agrees to the wager, she had no idea how much caos that would ensue due to it. What they both find in the end, is that they have found a love that will bring them excitement and passion that they never expected to find in each others arms. It was still a enjoyable read, and I am glad to have read Alexanders story.

My Review:
When Catriona Hurst hears from her aunt, that her twin sister is in trouble, the kind that could cause a great scandal especially to the family, she rushes to London. But when told of her current scheme, Catriona tries to save her, but in the end gets caught up in a trap. Hugh MacLean finds out about Caitlyn's scheme to trap and embarrass his brother, so when he tricks a woman who looks similar to Caitlyn, not realizing its her twin sister instead. He then exchanges a passionate embrace with her not knowing who she really is. When he realizes his mistake and is caught by her family, he ends up being forced to marry her to avoid scandal that could ruin Catriona and her family. Hugh has had some painful memories with a woman that hurt him, very badly. Even though Catriona is a innocent yet filled with passion, he knows that her stay is only temporary. He also worries about his three daughters, whom he doesn't want them to cling to a mother that wont be around in the distant future. But Hugh is going to get the surprise of his life, where he could lose his heart to this woman, who desperately yearns for a tender love that she has only dreamed of.
I have just loved this series, and I loved reading Hugh's story in the MacLeans Curse series. This series is wonderful, the MacLeans were cursed that every one of the children is cursed with storms that are connected to their tempers. Hugh is definitely one that has a strong temper, and tends to display it often throughout the book, which can be amusing at times. I also loved the plot and the interaction between Catriona and Hugh. Catriona has always had to be the responsible one between her and Caitlyn. So when she is forced to marry trying to save her, she knows her life will never be the same. Catriona aches for a passionate and loving relationship with her new husband, but knows that he will not be making it very easy. But through the personal road of love that they are taken on, they come to a understanding that not all things go as planned especially when your heart is involved. This is one of my favorites of the series so far,although I do wish there was more interaction between Hugh and his other siblings, still it was such a delight to read, and a great love story that will make you smile, and be utterly satisfied til the very end!!!

My Review:
Brandon St John, is one of out five siblings, and as much as he despises it so, he is in possession of the Talisman Ring. Which is quite a legend within his family and has been passed down the generations. Although he refuses to believe in such a legend, which says that whoever is in possession of it shall find true love. Brandon is not eager to find love, settle down or have kids. He is more than ever content as he is. His younger brother Chase, has just bought a special license and Brandon and his other brothers and brother n law endeavor to stop this marriage, believing the one Chase wants to marry is a golddigger. So Brandon goes over to pay a visit to Lady Verena Westforth. Verena, having been alone for four years since her husband passed away, is quite amused by the visit of Brandon. Tempers exchange, since they have both strong personalities. Verena considering Chase no more than a good friend, is outraged that his brother would try to buy her off to never see him again. Verena wanting to play a trick on Brandon and to teach him a lesson, takes his five thousand pound note and comes up with a plan to teach the arrogant St John a lesson or two. With Verena's brother in town and visiting and knowing that he is being blackmailed, Verena was tempted a little to cash it in, but knowing she can find another way to help her brother comes up with a way to trick Brandon. Brandon when finding out the truth from his brother, that she hadn't accepted his proposal was amused by Verena's hairbrained plot. He finds her enchanting, and like no other woman he has ever encountered. When his close friends come to him with a dangerous plot that could endanger many lives, he decides to help him out. Apparently there is this important list and he believes is in Verena's possession and he must find it or those after it that are very dangerous, will kill many to get it. Thus Verena and Brandon are thrown in together in a dangerous plot that could destroy everything that they love, and they both have much risk. But even though they work together there is also a rising desire that is quite explosive between the two of them.
I found that this was quite an amusing, yet intense story, one I thoroughly enjoyed. I found I just fell in love with all characters both main and sub. I found myself either laughing my head off or feel so tense from the suspense of the story. This plot is filled with danger, a mystery that needs to be solved, passion, and a love that will entrance you. I love reading Karen Hawkins, all of her books I have loved reading. This is one that I haven't read and definitely was one of my favorites of hers. But with all her books, I know I will be drawn into a good plot that will be filled with wit, romance, and an exciting story line with a mystery that keeps you surprised and amused. I know this one was filled with all these aspects and I am definitely glad I picked it up. You can never go wrong with Karen Hawkins.
