Shifter Romance

Synopsis
Elizabeth Chapman is saved from an armed robber by a giant Kodiak bear who shifts into a large, well-muscled, and fully bare human. But when it's revealed that the robber is the brother of a dangerous criminal, Elizabeth finds herself the target of a vendetta.

Ronan, the Bear Shifter, takes her to Shiftertown, where she finds that mateless Ronan takes care of Shifters who have no families or clans of their own. Having grown up in foster care herself, Elizabeth can only admire how protective Ronan is, even while she chafes at the confinement.

But Ronan will only let her leave the safety of Shiftertown if he becomes her 24/7 bodyguard. Elizabeth finally agrees. The trouble is, the sassy human Elizabeth is triggering Ronan's long-buried need to find himself a mate.

Summary:
Elizabeth, has worked very hard to make a fresh start, and with her store finally doing well, then one evening someone bursts into her store and attempts to rob her, and then a big kodiak bear saves the day....when Ronan saves Elizabeth from being killed, he ends up being blamed for attacking a human, and only with Elizabeth's testimony does he get free, and he desires to protect her from those who would seek revenge. Elizabeth at first doesn't want to believe in the danger that threatens both herself and her sister, but when she starts to realize who is really involved in getting revenge, she starts to realize that how much she needs Ronan and his protective nature, and sooner than she would ever think she starts to fall in love with the most adorable bear in the county, who despite being a shifter bear, is so tender and loving but she doesn't know if she can trust Ronan or her heart...but she doesn't dare mess up the best thing that has ever happened to her...

The Hero
Ronan, is a shifter, and a kodiak bear, and when he first came to shiftertown he was very reserved and shy, but slowly started to extend outside of his shell, and now he is a foster dad to three bear shifters, who keep him on his toes, but when he meets Elizabeth, his protective streak goes through the roof, and he knows the longer she stays with him, he knows that she is his future mate if only he can get her to trust in their love.

The Heroine
Elizabeth Chapman, has a dark secret that is a part of her past, and in order to protect herself and her sister she had to start a new life and make a fresh start, and right when she thought things were going well and that she could forget the past and focus on her future, but when she is robbed and Ronan saves the day she knows her life has changed forever if she can only trust in his love for her....

My Thoughts
Bodyguard is a e book between the second and third in the series, and its Ronan's story, and those of you who have read this series, just fall in love with Ronan and I would love to find my own 'Ronan'. Bodyguard was such an endearing story and only .99 cents on Kindle, so I was thrilled when it wasn't a short story, but novel size, and I couldn't put it down I was so enthralled by the story. I have noticed that with Jennifer Ashley I think to myself am I really going to like this one, but I am always surprised by how good it is, how much I fall in love with the stories and the characters, and the same is true with Bodyguard. Its probably my favorite book so far in the series, of course the other two are not far behind, I think the one thing that I loved the most, is the romance in this story, so beautifully written and I also enjoyed the conflict, it wasn't the kind the would send your heart racing, yet it wasn't like it wasn't enough of conflict, I found it balanced the story really well and I definitely just loved every aspect....a fun and exciting, and it seemed to be a perfect addition to the best series Ashley has come up with yet....

Book Review-Lord Of The Desert

Lord Of The Desert
Hutton & Co Series (3)
Diana Palmer
Harlequin
Paperback
Published 2000
377 Pages
Contemporary Romance
ISBN 0-373-77022-7
Synopsis
From seduction in the royal sheikhdom to high adventure in the hot Arabian desert comes a breathtaking love story by international bestselling author Diana Palmer....

Sheltered small-town girl Gretchen Brannon was out of her element when she aligned herself with Sheikh Philippe Sabon, the formidable ruler of Qawi. They came from different worlds, yet she found a soul mate in the powerful, sensual man who'd suppressed his passions for far too long -- and harbored a secret anguish. Nevertheless, he made the virtuous young woman aware of her own courage...and, in turn, she aroused his sleeping senses as no other woman could.

However, now that Gretchen's heart belonged to the Lord of the Desert, danger loomed when she became the target for vengeance by the sheikh's most diabolical enemy. In a final showdown that would pit good against evil, could love and destiny triumph...?

Summary:
Gretchen along with her closest friend Maggie, goes on a vacation to Morocco. When her friend has to leave unexpectedly and asks her to stay for the job that Maggie was offered. Gretchen, at first, only plans on staying for the vacation, because she doesn't believe in lies or deceit and she doesn't know if she could do that even to a Sheikh. When a mysterious yet sensual man bumps into her, and sparks fly, along with some kisses, and before Gretchen knows it she finds herself starting to care for Philippe, yet she senses deep pain and secrets in him, and when his true identity is revealed and other secrets, her feelings for Philippe only are strengthened, and even though there is a great danger if they are together, they both can't bear to lose one another.

The Hero (Phillipe Sabon)
Phillipe, is a powerful man with much perseverance to get to where he is today, and after nine years of misery knowing he could never marry or have a family, he is even more at a loss when he finds Gretchen, who is everything he needs in his bleak life. Even though he seems to have power and wealth, he doesn't have love at least until he felt the power of her kiss or her gentle kiss or that spark in her beautiful eyes, he knew he was lost from the moment she bumped into him and he knows he can't ever let her go.

The Heroine (Gretchen Brannon)
Gretchen, has been sheltered much most of her life and is still a virgin, which is pretty unheard of in the states, but when she meets Phillipe, she sees respect and admiration in his gaze for her purity. Gretchen, has been living a boring and pretty much a blah kind of life, and after recently been abandoned by her boyfriend and losing her mother, she needs something more in her life, and she finds what has been missing when she meets Philippe, because he is the chance for a happily ever after, if she will just reach out and fight for what she wants.

My Thoughts
Lord Of The Desert is part of a five book series by Diana Palmer, and this is the first book that I have ever read from this author and I have to say I was pretty impressed, so impressed I plan on reading more of her books the next chance that I get. I had heard of her of course...I mean who hasn't....but I am a bit picky about contemporary and since I don't read it too often, I haven't read her until now, but when I read the blurb for this one, I knew I just had to read it, and I am so glad that I did!!! I think I loved everything about this book, the story line, the characters, the passion and excitement, the conflicts, and above all the powerful romance that just set my heart pounding....One of my favorite aspects of this story was the conflict, which I don't want to spoil so I won't share it (you will just have to read it to find out) however its the type of conflict that you rarely if ever see in a romance story and I just loved seeing the approach about it, and definitely developed a deeper aspect to the story...Overall I think I just loved every thing about Lord Of The Desert, A Treasure that was a pure delight!!!

Book Review-Heart Mate

Heart Mate
Celta Heartmates (1)
Robin D. Owens
Berkley
Paperback
Published Aug 2006
Science Fiction Romance
ISBN 0425212408
Synopsis
The very first novel in the Celta futuristic romance series--a RITA Award( winner for Best Paranormal Romance--is now reissued. Set on a planet where psychic abilities are the norm, "HeartMate" is the story of how two people find that love is the most unexpected pleasure of all.

Summary:
Rand T'Ash lost everything as a young boy, his home, his family, and had to learn to fend for himself most of his life until recently now that he is a nobleman and highly sought after artisan, he is now looking for his heartmate, and when he finds out who she is, he sets out to seduce her, only she doesn't seem to want to be seduced and keeps rejecting Him. Rand at first where Danith is coming from, because he once came from the kind of life that she is living currently, and he only desires to hold onto her, protect her and love her....he just has to convince her that sharing a life with him would bring her pure happiness, because the love they would share would be timeless.

The Hero (Rand T'Ash)
At the young age of six, Rand lost his family and ended up in the downwinds, in back alleys and criminals of all kinds, and has had to fight to live, now he is fighting to hold on to his heart mate who keeps turning away from his advances, but her kisses are so sweet and he aches to hold onto her....he doesn't know if he loves her but he does know there is a great future for them both if she will just learn to trust in him

The Heroine (Danith Mallow)
Danith, is a young woman that knows she will never have a heart mate, that she will have to settle for what she can get, and when she is about to be engaged to a young man who cares for her, she meets the intimidating Rand, who looks more like an outlaw than a noble, and doesn't understand why he would be pursuing her so unless he wants her for his mistress....but she knows she deserves better than that. When she finds out the real purpose in his advances, her life starts changing so dramatically right before her eyes that she doesn't know which way is right, even though her heart cries out for T'Ash.

My Thoughts
Heart Mate is the first installment in this series, and it was a very likable read, the beginning was a bit slower to get into, but once I did I had a fantastic time with these two characters. Rand is so Alpha Male type, very possessive and stubborn to the extreme, and more resilient than most, although he does have a soft side. Danith, is somewhat spitfire but does have a more gentle nature about her. Danith's situation is unique, because she thinks of herself as beneath Rand, however she is anything but, and the heat in this book was very sizzling at times, I just love this world that Robin D. Owens has created, its so fun to get into the scene and just enjoy the ride. It wasn't the type of book that would keep you from setting it down, but it was more relax before the fire type of read, and a very enjoyable and exciting at times novel, that was so fun and sexy, and I can hardly wait to read the rest of the series.

Book Review-Heart Dance

Heart Dance
Celta's Heartmates (6)
Robin D. Owens
Berkley Sensation

Meanwhile, Saille T'Willow has sent his HeartGift out into the world in hopes of finding his HeartMate, who, it turns out, is DuFleur. Still, DuFleur wants nothing to do with Saille, especially when she discovers that it was his grandmother who brought about her father's ruin. Unfortunately, her body can't help but submit to the passion he stirs in her. But when a scandal threatens Saille's position as head of the family, will DuFleur stand by his side?

Summary:
Dufleur is determined to win her father's good name back, Once she lost her father it seemed as if she lost a part of herself but now experimenting with time, which is her flair, she doesn't plan on Saille T'Willow to ruin everything or to give in to being his heart mate. Saille, knows who his heart mate is, Dufleur, and he knows it won't be easy to win her over especially after what his grandmother did to her family. However now that he is head of his family now, he plans on making changes, positive ones, and he hopes to reverse as much damage as he can including the damage against his heartmate, with the hope that she may love him and accept him and trust in him...

The Hero (Saille T'Willow)
Most of his life, Saille was sent away by the head of the family, however since she is practically on life support now, he has assumed his place as head of the family, and he finds out that his heartmate has been hidden from him all of this time, as with other members of his family, and now will win her over, no matter what it takes.

The Heroine (Dufleur Thyme)
Dufleur, has never felt like a true part of her family, except for her flair, which is being able to work with time, and ever since her father was killed, and experimenting with time was outlawed, she practices her flair in secret, knowing that she must prove her father's innocence. But when finds out that a willow is her heartmate, she doesn't ever plan on accepting his gift, especially after what his family did to hers. However she can't deny the passion or the connection she feels coursing through her body.

My Thoughts
Heart Dance was a fantastic read, and its been a while since I have read a science fiction fantasy romance, but when I discovered this series, I just knew I had to try it out. Heart Dance is the sixth installment and even though its in the middle of the series I didn't feel lost or anything, Owens portrayed this world that she created very well, with vivid description that it almost felt like I was there. The only problem I had with Heart Dance would be that the flow seemed choppy at times, so I think if it had just run a bit more smoothly, that it would have been have a fantastic read. Overall it was still a wonderful read with enough conflict, romance, magic and a powerful story that will just leave you wanting for more.

Q: What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?

I think I would love to see Dark Challenge or Dark Legend by Christine Feehan, or Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward, or Texas Glory by Lorraine Heath. I don't really have any actors or actresses in mind  but I would love to see any of these books turned into movies.
