Book Review-Heart Mate

Heart Mate
Celta Heartmates (1)
Robin D. Owens
Berkley
Paperback
Published Aug 2006
Science Fiction Romance
ISBN 0425212408
Synopsis
The very first novel in the Celta futuristic romance series--a RITA Award( winner for Best Paranormal Romance--is now reissued. Set on a planet where psychic abilities are the norm, "HeartMate" is the story of how two people find that love is the most unexpected pleasure of all.

Summary:
Rand T'Ash lost everything as a young boy, his home, his family, and had to learn to fend for himself most of his life until recently now that he is a nobleman and highly sought after artisan, he is now looking for his heartmate, and when he finds out who she is, he sets out to seduce her, only she doesn't seem to want to be seduced and keeps rejecting Him. Rand at first where Danith is coming from, because he once came from the kind of life that she is living currently, and he only desires to hold onto her, protect her and love her....he just has to convince her that sharing a life with him would bring her pure happiness, because the love they would share would be timeless.

The Hero (Rand T'Ash)
At the young age of six, Rand lost his family and ended up in the downwinds, in back alleys and criminals of all kinds, and has had to fight to live, now he is fighting to hold on to his heart mate who keeps turning away from his advances, but her kisses are so sweet and he aches to hold onto her....he doesn't know if he loves her but he does know there is a great future for them both if she will just learn to trust in him

The Heroine (Danith Mallow)
Danith, is a young woman that knows she will never have a heart mate, that she will have to settle for what she can get, and when she is about to be engaged to a young man who cares for her, she meets the intimidating Rand, who looks more like an outlaw than a noble, and doesn't understand why he would be pursuing her so unless he wants her for his mistress....but she knows she deserves better than that. When she finds out the real purpose in his advances, her life starts changing so dramatically right before her eyes that she doesn't know which way is right, even though her heart cries out for T'Ash.

My Thoughts
Heart Mate is the first installment in this series, and it was a very likable read, the beginning was a bit slower to get into, but once I did I had a fantastic time with these two characters. Rand is so Alpha Male type, very possessive and stubborn to the extreme, and more resilient than most, although he does have a soft side. Danith, is somewhat spitfire but does have a more gentle nature about her. Danith's situation is unique, because she thinks of herself as beneath Rand, however she is anything but, and the heat in this book was very sizzling at times, I just love this world that Robin D. Owens has created, its so fun to get into the scene and just enjoy the ride. It wasn't the type of book that would keep you from setting it down, but it was more relax before the fire type of read, and a very enjoyable and exciting at times novel, that was so fun and sexy, and I can hardly wait to read the rest of the series.

Summary:
Dufleur is determined to win her father's good name back, Once she lost her father it seemed as if she lost a part of herself but now experimenting with time, which is her flair, she doesn't plan on Saille T'Willow to ruin everything or to give in to being his heart mate. However now that he is head of his family now, he plans on making changes, positive ones, and he hopes to reverse as much damage as he can including the damage against his heartmate, with the hope that she may love him and accept him and trust in him...

The Hero (Saille T'Willow)
Most of his life, Saille was sent away by the head of the family, however since she is practically on life support now, he has assumed his place as head of the family, and he finds out that his heartmate has been hidden from him all of this time, as with other members of his family, and now will win her over, no matter what it takes.

But when finds out that a willow is her heartmate, she doesn't ever plan on accepting his gift, especially after what his family did to hers. However she can't deny the passion or the connection she feels coursing through her body.

My Thoughts
Heart Dance was a fantastic read, and its been a while since I have read a science fiction fantasy romance, but when I discovered this series, I just knew I had to try it out. Heart Dance is the sixth installment and even though its in the middle of the series I didn't feel lost or anything, Owens portrayed this world that she created very well, with vivid description that it almost felt like I was there. The only problem I had with Heart Dance would be that the flow seemed choppy at times, so I think if it had just run a bit more smoothly, that it would have been have a fantastic read. Overall it was still a wonderful read with enough conflict, romance, magic and a powerful story that will just leave you wanting for more.

For Zain, Lacey could do anything -- because his kisses, his touch, everything about him felt like destiny. And that destiny was the true Lacey Garrett . . .

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Lacey, has recently recovered from being cheated by her fiancee, where he ran with everything she had, apart from his cat, of course. Then she is suddenly beamed onto another planet, and thinks ok...it can't get worse than this....however she is very wrong in that theory. Lacey is surprised to find that she is needed to help Zain Masters, who is stranded on a planet, with not much hope of getting his ship fixed before he gets killed in different painful ways. Lacey is determined to stay and assist Zain, she knows how much he needs her help right now and is willing to face whatever it takes, because there is passion building between them that she doesn't want to deny, one that she craves and aches for, a passion that will lead to her destiny with the one man who holds her heart.

The Hero (Zain Masters)
Zain, once worked for a galactic company but when his partner is killed and he is blamed for it, he has been on the run ever since, a drifter, a loner, one that has had to stay away from his family and friends, and has decided never to involve himself with a woman again...that is until he meets Lacey, and his body and heart burns for hers, knowing he won't be able to resist her or her efforts in saving him...

The Heroine (Lacey Garrett)
Lacey, has just started to heal from her ex fiancee who took everything that she built, and didn't even fight for it back. However when she meets Zain, and is entrenched with the dangers of his world, there is a part of her that awakens, boldly, and wants to fight for her own destiny, one that will involve Zain in her life...forever

My Thoughts
Unleashed is the third installment in the UN Forgettable series...and I did overall enjoy Unleashed but it wasn't my favorite, probably my least favorite of the series. There were some amazing moments where I was enthralled to say the least in part of the story, captivated by the suspense and the romance...however it took a while for me to really get into the story, but when I did, I definitely had a good ride. There was also a taste for unrelenting adventure and sizzling romance that had me at the edge of my seat at times. Although I felt like at times there was something missing, it was a enjoyable read!

Science Fiction Romance
ISBN 0-505-52540-2
Synopsis
Tess MacKenzie was a successful singer/songwriter. Then Cohl Travers picked her up.

Of course, it wasn't exactly how she was used to being "picked up." Cohl dropped down from outer space with his robot Pitz and zapped her--so that they could save his father by acquiring a magical amulet, he said. All Tess had to do--supposedly--was sing some strange song on some ancient mystical planet they still had to find. But her abductor was hiding something else, something besides the gorgeous body beneath his space suit. Something pretty darn bizarre was going on, and Tess vowed that she'd uncover everything. Very soon, it wouldn't be just her or an ancient artifact but some powerful feelings: By the end of this crazy ride, everything was going to be .. .UNEARTHED

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Tess MacKenzie, on the verge of a successful career as a singer, is suddenly kidnapped by Cohl Travers. Tess's whole concept of her world, is about to change when she realizes that she just hasn't been kidnapped to another state or country, but to another galaxy. Cohl, needs Tess to help him get his father freed, from those that have ransomed him. His father is the king and leader of their world, and Cohl is willing to do anything to free him, even kidnap a innocent woman to get what he needs. However Cohl didn't expect to fall in love along the way of this adventure that both he and Tess will embark on, and he will find out what finding one's true love is really like....not what he expected but he refuses to give it up once he has found it.

The Hero (Cohl Travers)
Cohl, ran away from his home many years ago., but upon hearing a frantic message from his mother concerning his father he rushed home, never expecting that his life would be forever changed after that. He knows that despite he and his father's difference of opinions, he still loves him and would do anything to rescue him. But when he discovers Tess, his world changes and is unseated from his known reality of life, into a world where he can't think of being separated from Tess....

The Heroine (Tess MacKenzie)
Tess, after losing her parents and not seeing much of her siblings, has finally been living her dream, to be a singer, doing something she passionately loves. Tess is furious when a gorgeous , yet insane man kidnaps her but wants to take her on a adventure that she would never have even dreamed of, but despite all that she finds that she is falling for Cohl, and is willing to stand by him in anything.....

My Thoughts
Unearthed is the first in the UN forgettable series, and I truly enjoyed Cohl and Tess's story here. Although I wasn't as involved in the book as I was Unraveled, and it took me some time to get really into it, it still had a exciting plot and fascinating elements that unraveled a beautiful story. I have always had a fascination with the Science Fiction Genre, so this type of background to the story really intrigued me. What I think I loved most about this book was how at first Tess is against the whole mission, but then through a turn of events changes her mind and is willing to do everything she can to aid Cohl, and rescue. I found her to be full of courage and willing to give up everything to stand by the man she loves. Cohl, is more of a sacrificing hero character, he loves Tess, but doesn't want her to give up everything to be with him...but the ending was magical and I just loved this story and especially all the characters involved. So if your looking for a story that will rock you to your very toes...then I would recommend Unearthed!!!

that's how Rayce Coburne felt. He'd tried to give" up treasure acquisition. It wasn't the danger that put him off; he despised dealing with icy customers like the Majj. A kiss a day was the perfect strategy. Unless the spinning he felt inside was Tru unwrapping his heart.

MY REVIEW
Summary
Tru leaves the only home she has ever known to continue in her father's work, to find the ultimate historic treasure known to the galaxy. However she must go ask Rayce's help, a man who hates the Majj, scientists and part of the institute that she is from. When Tru comes to Rayce for his assistance at first he hates the idea despite the amount of funds he would be paid, he despises the Majj and their selfish views, but knowing how much he could use the money, he agrees with one condition upon Tru, that she agrees to a kiss every day. At first Tru is petrified at the thought, not having positive experiences with intimacy, but agrees knowing that she has no choice. So Tru and Rayce begin a journey of alifetime and as the passion between them escalates to a burning flame, and even though they tell themselves that its only temporary, they each wonder if they could one another up?

The Hero (Rayce Coburne)
Rayce,  has always had a bitterness that leans towards the Majj scientists, believing that their greed is the result of his sister dying a horrible death, and him feeling helpless knowing that there was nothing that he could do for her. Then Tru comes to him in search of a treasure that could be the means in which he would never struggle in finances and be free from debtors. However there is something much more important he finds in this journey with Tru, and that is finally being able to heal from past wound and finding a woman that could be his mate...

The Heroine (Tru Van Dye)
Tru, has always dedicated her life to her fathers work and being a part of the Majj Institute, thinking they could do no wrong. But when she meets up with Rayce, and they journey together in search of a treasure, she learns many truths about herself and everyone she knows that will change her life. Tru is full of courage, passion and aches to find a place to call 'home', not knowing that with Rayce she could find everything she could ever need.

My Thoughts
When I first heard of this author it was from a fellow author and I think the review might of been this book as well, and I just loved the sound of it I went to check to see if they had this author at the library and I was thrilled that they did so I got a couple of the books in the series. I have to say that I have missed reading sci fi romance and I am so glad that I started reading Unraveled. What we have in this story is a tale of two people that may seem so different from each other in the beginning but as the story progresses we see that they are more than perfect for each other. Tru is innocent and filled with a inner passion that just wants to get out but has been treated badly in the past and has a hard time with trust. Rayce, stills feels the deep loss of his sister and hates Majj, and at first he despises Tru, but he starts to see that she is nothing like them, for she is tender and caring . I loved this tender picture that C.J. Barry has created here, and such a wonderful read filled with adventure, romance and witty repatore that will leave you thirsty for more!!! A Treasure!

My Favorite Quote
She felt Coburne's hand on her arms just as she exited the salon. Effortlessly, he spun her around to face him and pinned her to the rough outside wall of the saloon. Before she could protest, his mouth covered hers with a scorching, staggering kiss that made her knees buckle. No man had ever kissed her that way-all wicked and decadent-putting his whole being into one, sole purpose. So, this was how it felt to be seduced by a rogue. No wonder women fell at his feet.

ISBN: 0505525410

Synopsis
A WILDER BLUE YONDER

Ilana Hamilton isn't an adventurer like her pilot mother or a diplomat like her do-right brother; she's a brash, fun-loving filmmaker who'd rather work behind the camera than be a "Star Princess" in front of it. Heiress or not, she's a perfectly normal, single woman ... until Prince Che Vedla crashes into her life.

With six months to choose a bride, the sexy royal wants to sow his wild oats. Ilana can't blame him--but fall for the guy herself? Not a chance! Hotshot pilot or no, Che is too stuffy, too arrogant, and too old-fashioned. But when he sweeps her off her feet Ilana sees stars, and the higher he takes her the more she loves to fly. Only her heart asks where she will land.

Summary:
Illana, is known as the 'Star Princess' a title she abhors. Illana wishes for a life of normality. But when Prince Che Valda comes spiraling into her life, even if its for a distraction and to sow wild oats...Illana is determined not to fall for his charms. Che Valda must marry a bride, whom he has no idea of her identity, but comes to Earth for distractions until then, and the perfect canidate is Illana who memerizes him to the point where he wishes he could forget duty and obligation for once in his life and choose a life with a woman that he aches to keep forever...

The Hero (Che Vedla)
Prince Che, after losing his betrothed to another man, he knows what is expected of him and that he will need to marry soon. However he decides to take a trip to Earth, before he has to settle down...a means of sowing his oats. When he arrives he meets Illana, whom is far different from the women he usually has dealings with.. she is strong willed, opinionated, no respect for anything royal and has no desire to be royal, just live a normal life....Che intends on keeping her no matter what.....

The Heroine (Illana Hamilton)
After her mother married the King Romlijan...her life was forever changed, and even though her brother has fully embraced their ways...Ilana hasn't, because she wants a normal life. One without putting on airs or the publicity and having no privacy...and she hates flying and dreads having to fly on a ship to see her brother get married. When Prince Che comes to her home, she starts to realize that not all things royal are bad....and that he may just be one that will hold the key to her heart.

My Thoughts
The Star Princess is the fourth in the Star Series. I have just fallen in love with this author and this series that I have been able to read so far...and at this point one of my favorite sci fi/futuristic romantic series. I definitely loved the story and plot line.....two people who are as different as night and day but are more than perfect for each other. I loved how Susan Grant blended it perfectly the romance, with a bit of mystery and danger and to top it off with passion...just made for a tremendously entertaining read...one that I would never regret. There was a satisfaction upon finishing the story...yet wishing it was longer. Definitely a keeper here!!!

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Jasmine, on her fighter jet, crashes down and then she sees a man..a stranger one who is compelling and becomes forever in her memory. Since then, Jas has never been satisfied with her relationships, for she is always looking back to him whose memory has been burned in her mind forever. Now he is planning on finding her, even if its in a remote system and in the 'frontier' no less.  Jasmine, aches for this stranger who haunts her and calls out to her, so when she see's that he is on TV, she knows she must find him, never realizing that finding him would change her life forever and that he would awaken a love so powerful that she would stand by his side for all time...

The Hero (Romlijhlan B'kah)
Rom, even though he is royalty, and heir to the throne of B'kah, no longer feels like he is part of the family, because of his beliefs to destroy a man that has the power to deceive everyone all the while he murders innocents. Rom, now has made a life for himself, but knows in his heart he must find the one woman whom haunts him...but never expected to find her even though he has been searching for her...and now with Jasmine at his side, will fight for everything that he believes in...

The Heroine (Jasmine Boswell)

My Thoughts
The Star King is the second book in the Star Series by Susan Grant. This is the first book that I have read by this author, and I am falling more and more for the futuristic/sci fi romance. I haven't read many of them...but I have found quite a few treasures and The Star King is one of them. I just loved everything about this book... I loved the idea that Jasmine is older than most lead heroines are in romances....there was also a freshness about this story and there was the exciting and ever on the role kind of plot, that had be engaged throughout the story. The characters were so likeable, and there was such a sizzling heat to the side of the story....that had me on fire till the very end!!!! A Winner!!!

My Favorite Quote
He needed her with a desperation  born of his precarious position at the edge of death, wanted to make love to her while he possessed the strength and passion of life. Her pleasure would be his salvation.

When a competition among warrior comes, she meets the one warrior that will steal every defense that she has. After sharing a passionate night with Falon, and only feels the pain of it, instead of the pleasure, she flee's from the warrior, afraid of being hurt both on the outside and the inside. My Thoughts
Keeper of the Heart is one of my favorite novels that Johanna Lindsey has written, as well as one of my favorite series apart from the Malory's of course :). Keeper of the Heart is the second installment in the Ly San Ter Family Trilogy. This series is different than the rest of her series, because this series has more of a science fiction and futuristic twist to it. This is such an endearing love story, of two souls that looking for love and family, but not knowing what  is right in front of them. I found the plot to be engaging and full of surprises. I found overall Keeper Of The Heart to be as infectious as a chocolate truffle, Definitely a first rate love story.
