My Thoughts
What The Heart Knows is a single title by Kathleen Eagle, I think though I had high expectations from this book, and I found myself pretty disappointed throughout the whole novel. I have read a few books by Kathleen Eagle, and I think there has only been one or two that I ended up satisfied with. What The Heart Knows started out ok, and I was hoping it would just get better, but the flow was uneven and static at times. The story line was the best part of the book, but I just felt from beginning to end I had to force myself to get through it, I almost gave up on it, but I stuck with it, hoping it would get better however I only ended up in a spirit of frustration and how I seemed to get lost at times, and I felt like there could have more substance to the characters. I hope the next book I read from this author is much better.

Book Review-Hot Pursuit.

Hot Pursuit
Troubleshooter Series
Suzanne Brockmann
Ballentine, 398 Pages
Published July 2009
Romantic Mystery Suspense
ISBN: 0345501578

Synopsis
Alyssa Locke is no stranger to dealing with danger. As team leader of the nation’s number one personal security company, Troubleshooters Inc., she’s seen more than her share of action, survived plenty of close calls, and holds her own with the best of them–and against the worst of them. Guarding lives is her game, and no one plays it better. But her toughest challenge will be protecting herself from a serial killer she’s been after for years–known only as “The Dentist”–who is determined to make her his ultimate trophy.

The assignment was supposed to be an easy one: teach self-defense techniques to a newly elected assemblywoman and her chief of staff after a political controversy generates a blizzard of hate mail–including death threats–from hotheads and cranks. But as soon as she mobilizes her squad of moonlighting Navy SEALs in New York City, Alyssa begins butting heads with the hard-case cop who thinks that the Troubleshooters are chasing shadows.

Until they discover a dead body. And then another. Now Alyssa really has her hands full–bodyguarding two independent, busy women, managing a murder investigation, and trying to find time for her husband, Troubleshooters operative Sam Starrett, and their infant son. Meanwhile, it wouldn’t be a Troubleshooters operation without romantic sparks and heated rivalries–and any time the SEALs of Team Sixteen are involved, there are plenty of both.

But then, while investigating a suspect, Alyssa is ambushed and suddenly finds herself imprisoned by The Dentist. Cut off from everyone she loves and relies on, Alyssa must call upon all of her strength and skill to survive this final confrontation with the sadistic monster, meanwhile trusting that her Troubleshooter teammates, led by her beloved Sam, will reach her before it’s too late.

My Review:
Hot Target is the fifteenth of the Troubleshooters series written by Suzanne Brockmann. The way that I read this one was through audio, and is the usual form of reading I do for Brockmann's books, especially the Troubleshooters series. I have just loved being able to get into these wonderful stories. Hot Pursuit begins with Alyssa Locke and her husband Sam Starret get involved in this story. Where they are to protect a important political figure and her staff, after receiving some serious threats, and this being a close friend to Savannah who is married to one of the SEALs on the Troubleshooters team. Also joining the brigade is a close friend Jules Cassidy, an agent in the FBI and one of Alyssa's closest friends. However throughout this story we also see a couple other side stories involving Izzy Zinella and Danny Gillman, who are also on the Troubleshooters teams and SEALS. In Hot Pursuit, a man referred to as the "Dentist" has been haunting Alyssa and Jules for years. But when deaths start to occur that give clues that he is back, Alyssa has a feeling that she is the target, and that with her husbands and the rest of the teams help, to outwit the one who has evaded them since Alyssa got involved in his case which has been for many years. So hold on to your seat as you go on a thrilling adventure and see some of your favorite characters from this astounding Troubleshooters Series!!

I just love being able to read this book, it was such a wonderful one!! However this is not my first time being able to listen to it. I just recently started a challenge to read the whole Troubleshooters Series, and so this was the first book available so I started to read it "Audio" style. But out of all of the books in this series, Hot Pursuit is the one that resembles a Sherlock Holmes novel more than her usual romantic suspense plots, however despite that, it added a certain spice to the series, that I would love to see more of. It left me in suspense the whole way through, with surprises along the way that I didn't expect, even though it was my second time reading it. I also enjoyed the side stories involving the two SEALs that we have come to love, Izzy and Gillman, who have always been at each others throats for the most part, however we start to see their personal stories to come through, and both leaving me in suspense and wondering what is going to happen in the next book involving these two. I can hardly wait!! So if your looking for a romance with a thrilling plot, a mystery that needs solving, and few romances between some of our favorites, hop on and enjoy the ride that will take your breath away!!

Book Review-Heat Seeker

Heat Seeker
Elite Ops and Tempting Seals
Lora Leigh
St Martins,
334 Pages
Published Sep 2009
Mystery Suspense Contemporary Romance
Synopsis:
A former Elite Ops captain with a dark past meets his match in a female ex-CIA agent who’s dead-set on revenge. And this time, the action—and the attraction—is more adrenaline-pumping than ever…

DARE TO DESIRE
John Vincent has always led a life of danger, and now he has every reason to want to remain as dead as the obituary in the Australian papers had proclaimed him to be. He’d left nothing behind in the life he had once led—except for one woman, and one night of unforgettable passion. Now, both will return to haunt him…

SEDUCE TO DESTROY
Bailey Serborne is still tormented by a past she can’t change and a man she hasn’t been able to forget. A man who was supposed to dead.. But now, a stroke of fate has revealed that sometimes, a woman is given a second chance to heal her heart—and exact the sweetest revenge…

My Review:
John Vincent has been proclaimed dead by all those who knew him. Now he has a new life, as a member of a elite ops, where all members on the team are dead to the world and new people. In John's previous life he met the beautiful and sensual Bailey Serborne, who mixed up his emotions, and was the one thing he truly regretted hurting as a effect of his previous "fake" death. Bailey Serborne, is our for revenge for the death of her family, then she meets John Vincent who is so alike to a man she once knew and cared deeply for. As events progress where danger and intrigue escalate so does the desire and passion they have for each other, to the point of explosive heat.  What John or Bailey never realized was the love and passion they once shared still exists strongly between them, and if they embrace it they will only be stronger as a team.

Heat Seeker is a book that was written as a part of two series, which I thought was fascinating and somewhat unique. Heat Seeker is part of the Elite Ops series and the Tempting Seals series, although these two series are very alike. Heat Seeker is probably the most explosively erotically book that I have read from Lora Leigh. I have enjoyed reading her Breeds series, but this Elite Ops series seems to focus more on the sexual desires between the two characters than the plot or the romantic and emotional relationship between Bailey and John. It does have a intriguing plot though, where the hero "John" is another person and looks different than who he was before, yet Bailey is able to see through the exterior and find the inner man that once was claimed dead. Although it did have some exciting intrigue and danger elements to the book, it is far from my favorite from this author. Since I enjoy more of the emotional side of the love story, this however just seemed to emulate Lust full blown. Although it was enjoyable, throughout the whole of it, I just kept feeling like there wasn't much connection except sexual, and I was expecting more from this one.  Lora Leigh always has a highly sexual side to her books, but it seems to me in this series it overlaps too much and there isn't much of a plot left. But if you like Lora Leigh's other series than you will enjoy this one, it still had some good elements about it, that did keep me on edge at time and there was a certain edge of mystery that leaves you breathless with questions of what Really will happen between the two, but it just wasn't as consistent in flow as some of her other books have been in the past.
