Synopsis
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lorraine Heath brings us the eagerly awaited final story in the Scoundrels of St. James series.

William Graves is the last of Feagan's scoundrels. A onetime grave robber turned royal physician, he has devoted his life to saving others—because he knows there is no way to save himself. Especially not around a lady like Winnie. Though undeserving of her touch, he cannot resist. His passion cannot be tamed…even in the face of certain danger.

Winnie, the Duchess of Avendale, never knew peace until her brutal husband died. With William she's discovered burning desire—and the healing power of love. But now, confronted by the past she thought she'd left behind, Winnie must face her fears…or risk losing the one man who can fulfill all her dreams.
My Review

Winnie, the Duchess of Avendale, is a widow and thanks her blessings every day for that. Her late husband was abusive and brutal and cruel to her. The day he died was fortune for her, since he almost killed her the last time he was alive. It has been three peaceful years, being able to raise her son, even knowing the name he would bear would be Avendale. The one man she cares about more than anything, who has treated her with gentleness and care is William Graves. William is a Doctor, but he grew up as a grave robber, and ever since that day he became a part of Feagan and his band, his life changed. Now he is a respectable Doctor, who sees to the Queen's health. Graves has loved Winnie ever since he met her and treated her wounds and nursed her back from near death. He understands more than anyone the pain and fear she has suffered, but he hides a dreadful secret from her. He fears Winnie uncovering the truth that could rip apart the love they share, but will Winnie be able to overlook her fears and trust in William's love for her.

Lorraine Heath is a magical storyteller when it comes to historical romance. I was thrilled when I heard the exciting news that Graves would get his story. I have been waiting for it ever since I read the Scoundrel of St. James series (which if you have yet to read it, it needs to be bumped to the top of your TBR). I would have to say this is probably one of my favorite all time series. This is a novella, so its a short read, only a little over 100 pages. The hero is a doctor and a scoundrel (the perfect mix for a hero). Clever and sexy right? Well he is that and more, he has a dark past, but the way he treats Winnie is so precious and tender, you just want to cry at the poignancy of it all. Winnie isn't your typical heroine. She has come from a abusive relationship so she suffers from PTSD, and you see how strong she has become. She does fight her fears, and her safety net is William. I enjoyed seeing how she relies on him, but at the same time you see a inner strength that is very admirable. And by the end of the story, Winnie totally wins you over. We also see involvement of the other four couples from the previous books in the series, it made me want to re read this series. I just might do that and soon, anyone wanna join? LOL

Overall a quick but satisfying read that thrilled me to the toes. A impossible to put down romance that captures your attention from the very beginning. UNFORGETTABLE!!
