Teaser Tuesday (36)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme that I have just discovered, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

•Grab your current read

•Open to a random page

•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others! Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like.

"So I can't really trust you not to keep writing about me. I'm not sure I can even trust you to keep quiet about who Rockton is. That leaves me with two choices, if I want to keep my secrets safe. I can murder you to keep you silent.
Not a good choice at all. No matter how you treat it in your novels, Murder is messy. Not to mention illegal.
A Shiver swept her "And the other choice?"
The sudden glitter in his eyes did nothing to quell the pounding in her chest "I can marry you."

Book Review-The Countess

The Countess
The Madison Sisters (1)
Lynsay Sands
Avon
371 Pages
Published Feb 2011
Paperback
Regency
ISBN: 978-0-06-196304-9
Synopsis
The fairy tale courtship did not turn into a happily-ever-after . . .
Not until her husband dropped dead, that is. He had been horrible enough to Christiana during their short marriage, and she was not going to allow the traditional period of mourning to ruin her sisters' debuts as well. So she decides to put him on ice and go on as if nothing's happened . . .
Until the real earl appears. Richard Fairgrave had every intention of confronting his villainous twin who had robbed him of his name and title . . . only to discover that he had died. Quietly assuming his identity, Richard must now deal with a maddening desire for his ravishing inherited "wife"— certainly a gold digger and possibly a murderess. And Christiana must deal with an unwanted new "husband" . . . and they both must figure out what to do before the ice melts!

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Christiana, because of a gambling debt from her father, was forced to marry, a man that she once fell in love with and found charming and irresistable, however the minute he put his ring on her finger, everything about him changed. He was no longer the man she once knew, but someone that for a year, emotionally abused her, and Christiana desperate to escape but has no idea on how to go about it. Then her husband falls dead, and so as a temporary measure to escape a scandal until she can get her sisters married, she hides him away and puts him on ice..literally. But then that evening at ball, she comes face to face with a furious looking man that resembles her husband most strongly, and she is in shock...that after being dead has come back alive. Richard Fairgrave is the real Earl, but his twin brother had him almost killed, and has just returned to face his villionious brother, George, who has taken his own title away from him. But then he finds out that his brother is dead, and has married, and decides to act as the real Earl. However the one person he didn't expect to come in his way, was Christiana, who is reluctant to believe that this is the new Earl, who has suddenly reformed, but a sensual passion begins to climb between them, but the truth is bound to come out, and when it does will Christiana wants to remain with Richard and take a leap of faith on the love she is starting to feel for him.

The Hero (Richard Fairgrave)
Richard, even though a twin, is very different from his brother George. Unsuspecting George tries to have him killed, but Richard ends up in America instead, and when he finally manages to make his way back to England, he is determined to confront his brother and get everything back that was lost to him. When he finds out that George is dead, and has left a wife behind, he decides not to go to the authorities and claim Christiana as his own, and even though circumstances aren't ideal Richard is genuine in his desire to create a future with her.

The Heroine(Christiana Madison)
Christiana, has suffered a year of hell with her husband, but now that he has died, she knows that she must protect her sisters, and so they come up with a plan, to just put him on ice until she finds husbands for her sisters, before scandal ruins their chances of finding a good match. However, when the true Richard reveals himself, she is hesistant to trust another man with her body and her heart, for she doesn't want to get hurt again. But as she starts to realize how different Richard is from George, she starts to fall hopelessly in love with him.

My Thoughts
The Countess is the first in the Madison Sisters series by Lynsay Sands. I have loved her vampire series, and I have enjoyed a few of her historical, and the minute that I saw this book in the store, I knew I had to buy it, for the cover and blurb sold me, and I don't regret it. I don't get the chance to buy many books because of my budget, but I decided it was time to treat myself, and The Countess is definitely going to be a re read for sure.  From the first page I fell in love with Christiana, she had such a vibrant personality and I couldn't help but be drawn to her. I also loved the interaction between Christiana and Richard, there were so many times that I laughed especially at the beginning, with the way these two circled each other, it was very entertaining to say the least. The Countess overall was a enjoyable read, with a perfect mix of chemistry and a bit of a mystery, that kept this reader on the edge of her seat. I truly fell in love with Richard and Christiana, and looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I hope its just as a enjoyable ride as the Countess has been!!

My Favorite Quote
However, at the moment he was eyeing her with a concern she had never seen before and it seemed to increase his attractiveness tenfold, making him darned near irresistible. "If you continue to look at me like that I may be tempted to kiss you," he said in a husky voice.

Heart Of Fire

375 Pages
Published January 2008
Paperback
Victorian Romance
ISBN: 978-7783-2452-2
Synopsis
As a viscount's daughter, vivacious Coralee Whitmore is perfectly placed to write about London's elite in the outspoken ladies' gazette, Heart to Heart. But beneath her fashionable exterior beats the heart of a serious journalist.

So when her sister's death is dismissed as suicide, Corrie vows to uncover the truth, suspecting the notorious Earl of Tremaine was Laurel's lover and the father of her illegitimate child. But Corrie finds the earl is not all he seems...nor is she immune to his charms, however much she despises his caddish ways.

Far from a society column, Corrie's life soon reads more like one of Mr. Dickens's serials. But the danger of her ruse is hardly fictional: someone is bent on ensuring Corrie's questions go unanswered--and unasked.

MY REVIEW

Summary:
Corrie, after her sisters death, is devastated, especially when they were so close. So she goes to the Earl of Tremaine, posing as a distant cousin through a marriage, to uncover the truth. So posing at the Castle Tremaine as a young widow, which makes her desirable to Gray, and soon enough the desire between them explodes into a inflaming passion that bothers with their good sense, and both of their quests to seek the truth secretly about each other. Gray once, lost his wife in a accident, and when he finds out about the danger that threatens Corrie, he means to protect her and find out the truth that could save them both.

The Heroine (Coralee Whitmore)
Corrie, is a writer a Ladies Gazette, that promotes humanitarian aid in London. But when she hears that her sister and her newborn nephew, have died in a accident, Corrie is determined to find out the truth about the circumstances surrounding her sisters death. However on this journey that she takes to discover the truth, she will never expect to fall in love with a irresistable rogue who tender kisses will be her greatest weakness and one who will teach her about passion and love.

My Thoughts
Heart of Fire is the second installment in the Heart Trilogy by Kat Martin. Now this is the first chance I have had to read from this author, and I after such a enjoyable time I had reading Heart of Fire, I have decided to definitely try out the rest of her books. I had heard good and bad things about Martin's books, but the blurb and the cover got me hooked, and after reading the first chapter, I knew I would fall in love with this story and not regretting reading it, and I was right!!! It was such a delight to read, for one I love mystery mixed with sizzling romance, so it was a perfect mixture of what I truly enjoy in a good book. The characters were refreshing and lively, and were portrayed so vividly, its like I know that as real people LOL Crazy I know, but when I get into a good book, that tends to happen frequently. Such a enjoyable read!! I am definitely looking forward to reading

My Favorite Quote
He wanted Letty Moss (Corrie's assumed name). With her lovely copper hair and small but voluptuous body, she drew him like a moth to the flame. Gray slid an arm around her waist and hauled her against him. He drew her closer, enfolded her in his arms and kissed her until her mouth began to soften under his.

MY REVIEW

Summary:
Virginia Hughes, was raised on a plantation, the "Sweet Briar" a place that she treasures greatly. But then her parents die, and her guardian, a uncle that lives in England, has her go to a girls school until she is eighteen. Now she has recently turned eighteen and is eager to return to her home, however she is then informed that her uncle wants her to stay there another three years, so Virginia decides to leave the place and go to her uncle in England for help in getting her plantation back for her, since it is her inheritance and she knows everything in order to run it. However what neither Virginia or Devlin realized was how strong the desire that they feel for each other grows into a consuming passion, one that could very well change their lives forever...

The Hero (Devlin O Neill)
Devlin has been consumed all of his life with the need to bring revenge against the man that murdered his father right in front of his own eyes. And even though he has been able to ruin him financially so far, when he finds out that Virginia is his niece, he is determined to make sure that the revenge is even sweeter and uses her for his own uses against her uncle, but there will come a time when he will have to choose between the revenge and hatred he has felt all of these years or to claim Virginia and the love and joy that being with her offers him.

The Heroine (Virginia Hughes)
Virginia Hughes, grew up knowing how to run a tobacco plantation, and when her parents died she was devastated, and was forced to attend a Girls School, one where she feels more along than ever, for she is far different than the other girls. Virginia has a passionate nature with everything in her life. But inside her heart is tender, and when she comes into the hands of the rogue Devlin O Neill, she knows that he could easily steal his way into her heart and break it, however she also knows that she may be the only one to break through the ice shell that has surrounded him for so long.

My Thoughts
The Prize is the sixth installment in the de Warrene Dynasty series that Brenda Joyce has created. I have recently fallen in love with this author and her stories, and The Prize was no different, and I fell in love with the characters from the very beginning. Both were endearing and so likable throughout the whole of the story. There were parts of the story where I felt that Devlin was a bit too hard of a character, however the emotions that were portrayed by the characters felt so vividly real, and made the story come alive even more. The Prize is such a emotionally charged story that will pull at your heartstrings with every chapter. I am very much looking forward to reading the rest of this series, and The Prize definitely was filled with everything that I just adore in a historical romance....passion, adventure, intrigue and a powerful love....FANTASTICALLY WRITTEN!!!

My Favorite Quote
"I don't think so," Virginia said boldly, barely able to believe her courage, and she moved into his armes. "We seal it with a kiss," She turned up her face and closed her eyes, the last things she saw being his silver gaze, suddenly hot, suddenly bright. He wanted this, too. And then she moved her mouth firmly over his.

My Thoughts
Bonded By Blood, is the first in the Sweetblood series by Laurie London. This is the first book that I have read from this author, and I just know that I can't wait for the next one in the series!! I just love the style of this author's writing, there was so much excitement and emotion portrayed through the story and was heartfelt throughout the whole of it. The plot was steeped in adventure and intrigue, and above all the perfect mixture of romance that fully satisfies me. From the first page I was completely drawn into the story, and the details so vividly real, it was as if I was experiencing the story myself. There were also such in depth characters, and so genuine throughout all of the story, you just feel like cheering for them both until the very end. I definitely fell in love with Dom and Mackenzie, and am so grateful I got the opportunity to read from this author, for she is definitely one of my favorites ( I just hope the rest of her books live up to this one!!!) A TRULY MEMORABLE TALE!!! I LOVED IT!

MY Favorite Quote
Even though it wasn't really like her, she snaked her arms around his neck. His mouth crushed against hers, parting her lips, and she felt the tip of his tongue. Everything about him was perfect. The taste of him, the smell of hair, the feel of his chest against hers and the ways his urgent hands caressed the bare skin of her back.

The Hero (Kev Merripen)
Kev, not wanted by his real father, is sent to his uncle, and treated like a dog, and now is hardened because of his past. Kev is a intimidating man, but there is one family that doesn't feel intimidated by him, and thats the Hathaways, who are more unusual of gadjes that one would expect, but there is one Hathaway who is his downfall and must harden himself to her, so that he doesn't succumb, because he knows that he could  very well hurt her, and that's the last thing that he would do, and she deserves much more than a rom, but he finds it hard letting go for she is what he lives and breathes for....

The Heroine (Winnifred Hathaway)

My Thoughts
Seduce Me At Sunrise is the second installment in the Hathaway series by Lisa Kleypas. From the first book in the series, we see and ache for Win, for suffering as she does. I just have loved Kev and Win, and loved reading their story, so achingly sweet yet a tormenting side to the story as well. Kev is a man that is haunted by his past and has suffered much and doesn't reveal his true self to Win, knowing that she could never accept him. But Win is strong and spirited and fights for those that she loves, even stubborn and pig headed Rom's. There were parts of this story that made me cry, and parts that made me laugh, and was a entertaining story to say the least. It stole my heart from the first chapter!!! AN UNFORGETTABLE STORY!!!!

My Favorite Quote
What if this were the last moment you ever had with me? Wouldn't you have been sorry not to tell me how you felt? Wouldn't you--" Merripen covered her mouth with his, desperate for a way to make her quiet. His arms went around her, wrapping her in his vast strength, holding her against the hardness of his body. And then everything ignited, and they were both lost in a furor of need.

Penelope, has always never been thought of as a beauty among the ton, and expects that she will live a life as a spinster, even though she would love to find a man to love and marry and have children, but she has no prospects, unlike her best friend Eloise Bridgerton. Penelope is overlooked by her family, especially her mother, and just would want to feel loved, but never expected that Colin, the man she has secretly adored for years, is the key to her finding true happiness in her previously lonely life.

My Thoughts
Romancing Mister Bridgerton, is the fourth in the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. I just love Colin and Penelope's story. I don't even know how many times I have read this one, I just enjoy reading it every time. Romancing Mister Bridgerton is a witty, and memorable story that will pull at your heartstrings. Such a charming tale of two people, that both have secrets of their own, but yearns for acceptance and for a chance at love that has alluded them, but will find it in each other. I truly enjoyed this one, and I was completely satisfied by the time I reached the end. From the very beginning of the story, the reader will be taken on a emotional yet fun filled ride that Julia Quinn takes you on, and you will never regret reading Romancing Mister Bridgerton. A Romance that will charm every readers heart!

My Favorite Quote
" I love you," he said, leaning forward to kiss her. And this time she couldn't reply, because his mouth remained on hers, hungry, demanding, and very, very seductive.

She backed away until she hit the door. "What in God's name are you doing?" She cried, her gaze riveted on broad naked shoulders and a glimpse of an equally broad chest, rock hard chest. She looked lower. His belly was flat and tight, with interesting lines, and then it began to ripple. She quickly averted her gaze, but her cheeks had warmed.
"This cabin is too small for us both," she repeated.

Then she is faced with Nick Gentry, who stirs up all of her senses, and desires to be loved and cherished and has found a man that she aches for such devotion.

My Thoughts
Worth Any Price is the third and final installment in the Bow Street Runners series that Lisa Kleypas has created. Worth Any Price is Nick Gentry story, and after seeing him previously, I have definitely been looking forward to reading his story. Nick is a special hero, and one that is close to my heart, and one of my favorite characters that this author has created. He is a haunted and dangerous man, but there is a appeal about him, where you just want to comfort the man, for he has gone through  many hardships throughout his life. Worth Any Price is a charming story about two people who deserve love and happiness having never been able to find it for themselves, but together will find the most exquisite pleasure and joy. From the first page I was drawn into the story and could hardly put it down and is captivating to the bone......I  LOVED it!!!

My Favorite Quote
"You'll find life far more enjoyable as my wife," Gentry Continued " You won't be anyone's servant. You can do as you please within reasonable limits. And you won't have to fear Lord Radnor any longer. "
"All for the price of sleeping with you," She muttered. He smiled, all velvety arrogance, as he replied, "You may come to enjoy that part of it most of all."

Book Review-Savor The Moment

Savor The Moment
Bride Quartet (3)
Nora Roberts
Berkley
325 Pages
Published May 2010
Contemporary Romance
ISBN: 978-0-425-23368-9
 Synopsis
Wedding baker Laurel McBane is surrounded by romance working at Vows wedding planning company with her best friends Parker, Emma, and Mac. But she's too low-key to appreciate all the luxuries that their clients seem to long for. What she does appreciate is a strong, intelligent man, a man just like Parker's older brother Delaney, on whom she's had a mega-crush since childhood.
But some infatuations last longer than others, and Laurel is convinced that the Ivy League lawyer is still out of her reach. Plus, Del is too protective of Laurel to ever cross the line with her-or so she thinks. When Laurel's quicksilver moods get the better of her-leading to an angry, hot, all-together mind-blowing kiss with Del-she'll have to quiet the doubts in her mind to turn a moment of passion into forever...

MY REVIEW

Summary:
Laurel McBane, is part of the Bride Quartet, a group of four friends who known each other since childhood. Laurel's contribution to the wedding business is Cakes, and she is dang good at it too. Even though this wasn't Laurel's dream, but because of financial difficulties with her parents, she had to quit culinary school and decided to help her friends with the wedding business and bake wedding cakes. Even though two of her friends have found love and romance in their lives, Laurel doesn't really believe she will be as lucky, especially when there is one man that she has always loved, but one who treats her like a sister, Delaney Brown who is Parker's brother. Even though a passion flares between them, Laurel still has doubts about Delaney and wonders if he could ever love her and still thinks that he is way beyond her reach when it comes to Happily Ever After. But sometimes life has a way of changing circumstances, and that even in her normal life you can still find your Prince Charming...

The Hero (Delaney Brown)
Delaney Brown, is very similar to Parker, very organized and practical. Del has always cared about these four girls that are like sisters to him, and has a protective streak a mile wide especially when it comes to Laurel. When things change between them, with one fiery kiss, he knows that things will be different forever. Del doesn't know where their relationship will lead them, since this is definitely different for him, however Laurel means the world to him, and he starts to realize how much he is starting to love her and must convince her how sincere he is in his feelings for her.

The Heroine (Laurel McBane)
Laurel, part of the four women that started Vows, and her talent resides in making gorgeous wedding cakes that astound everyone in look and in taste. Laurel has always had a crush on Del, but through a angry spat with him, kisses him surpring the both of them how much desire they feel for one another. Laurel struggled growing up, and now that she is in a relationship with Del, starts to doubt both herself and him, and doesn't believe that he could ever love her...even though she has loved him for quite some time now...

My Thoughts
Savor The Moment is the third in the Bride Quartet, and my favorite series so far written about this author. I haven't read too many of her books, I have only read this series and the Chesepeake Bay Series. After reading Savor The Moment, I decided that this is my favorite of the books of the series so far, and even though I haven't read Parker's story, I absolutely adored Laurel. I felt connected to Laurel in a way that I wasn't with Emma or Mac. There was such a emotional side to Savor The Moment, one that connects the story to the reader in a way that usually doesn't happen very often, but when it does I thoroughly take advantage of the moment and get a box of tissues. (LOL) Although most of the story was witty and sexy, there were still those moments where I definitely needed the tissues, but in a good way. Savor The Moment satisfied me in every way possible, from the first page I was drawn in, and there was nothing that could draw me away from these tender romance. I loved how the story line and is basically holds true for the rest of the series, that these are normal women who have faced different challenges in their lives, that most readers can relate to, and even normal people can find a magical love that sometimes we can only dream and...read about. This is one of the aspects that I have truly enjoyed reading in this series. I just LOVED Savor The Moment, filled with everything that you need in a good romance that will blow you away....

My Favorite Quote
"You're the only one I've ever thought about asking to wear this. The only one I want to wear it. I've just driven all the way to Greenwich and back to get it for you. To give it to you because you're the only one. Marry me, Laurel"
