Waiting On Wednesday (40)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating. This week I’m waiting on, Coming Out December 27th 2011

Lethal undercover agent Stefan Prakenskii knew a thousand ways to kills a man—and twice as many ways to pleasure a woman. That’s what made him look forward to his new mission: arrive in the coastal town of Sea Haven and insinuate himself in the life of an elusive beauty who had mysterious ties to his past, and a link to a dangerously seductive, and equally elusive master criminal who wanted only one thing: to possess her.

Judith Henderson was an artist on the rise—an ethereal, and haunted woman whose own picture-perfect beauty stirred the souls of two men who have made her their obsession. For years she has been waiting for someone to come and unlock the passion and fire within her—waiting for the right man to surrender it to. But only one man can survive her secrets, and the shadow she has cast over both their lives

Book Review-Pride Mates

CALL OF THE WILD

To most, they are animals -- even when in human form. They are to be collared and kept on the fringes of society, scorned because they are feared, hated for their extraordinary powers. And attorney Kim Fraser has to go right into the heart of their lair.

It's her job to defend those in need. But there's absolutely nothing defenseless about Liam Morrissey. His soft Irish lilt and feline grace can't disguise his sheer strength. Nor can the silver chain at his throat, designed to control the aggression of his kind, completely reassure her that this man has been tamed.

Yet when a feral shifter begins to stalk them both, Liam is the only one she trusts with her life. She'll let him claim her -- for her protection, for her pride, and for a passion that knows no bounds.

MY REVIEW
Summary:
Liam Morrissey, like many of his kind knows that no good can come from trusting humans, all he can trust is his people. But then one of their own gets into trouble with the law and an Attorney Kim Fraser, comes to speak with him, to help him and his kind. Kim Fraser knows not much of the shifter laws but is determined to make sure her client is proved innocent and comes to Liam for his help. Kim definitely is out of her game when she calls on Liam, and before she realizes it she is in way over her head and the attraction between herself and Liam is about to get that much dangerous. When both of their lives are put at risk, will they have to learn to trust one another and the strong connection that is beginning to develop if they want to come out on top...

The Hero (Liam Morrissey)
Liam, finds Kim to be very unusual for a human, and knows that she could be very dangerous, not to his kind and fellow shifters....but to him. There is a strong sensual attraction that develops and soon he finds that he doesn't want to let her go and he knows that he must protect her when she is willing to risk her own life to help the shifters, knowing the she could be shunned by her own kind for doing so. Liam knows that the Alpha side of him to give in to the need to protect her at all costs...

The Heroine (Kim Fraser)
Kim Fraser, knows that the moment she steps into the shifter territory that she could be risking her life, but the moment she does she finds that she only wants to learn more of them and when she meets Liam she knows her life will never be the same again. There is a wildness about him that only feeds her passion for him and when danger threatens them Kim is willing to do whatever it takes....

My Thoughts
Pride Mates is the first in the Shifters Unbound series and since I have just loved reading Jennifer Ashley's historical's, I thought I would try this one out especially since I have heard many good things about it and found that I have just fallen in love with the story line and the characters, and this enchanting novel definitely whetted my appetite. I think I just fell in love with everything about this book apart from one aspect however overall it was everything one would need in a paranormal romance, and it did that and more for me, I couldn't read the pages fast enough I loved it so much and there was such a sensual and exciting aspect to the story as well as a dangerous one full of intrigue and fast paced action. I am looking forward to reading more in this series!!! Definitely a Winner!

My Thoughts
Midnights Wild Passion is written by Anna Campbell and I haven't read any of her books in quite a while and I knew once I was fifty pages into the book that I would just fall in love with everything about this book... The characters were so genuine and portrayed in a way that I felt I could relate with them. The plot was also full of surprises and intensity, and the romance was completely satisfying till the very last page. Definitely worth it!!! I was totally seduced by Midnight's Wild Passion!!!

The one woman he knows he can never, ever tame. The mercenary sister of Jonas’ mate, Diane Broen. And he doesn’t mean mercenary in the monetary sense. Oh hell no, he couldn’t be that damned lucky.  Diane is the commander of a small group of rough and ready male soldiers. A woman living on the edge, and threatening to pull him over with her.

Nicolas needs a fiancee, especially since recently he was named one of the Prince Regent's "impossible bachelors", and Poppy is perfect especially with the scheme he has recently found out that involves him. Poppy when she finds herself engaged to the real Duke instead of the fake one....she knows she will need to find a way out of it....but the more she is around Nicholas the more she feels herself falling in love with him and questioning whether or not she could walk away from him now....

My Thoughts
Dukes To The Left, Princes to the Right is the second in the Impossible Bachelors by Kieran Kramer. I have recently discovered this author, and I have been thoroughly entertained by each of her books that I have read so far. I loved the story line to this story.....the characters were lively and charming, the plot was engaging and the interaction between Poppy and Nicolas was definitely satisfying to this reader. I just loved this style of writing this author has, and this story was riveting and I was left at the end of it feeling fully satisfied!!!! A Wonderful Read!

Book Review-Navarros Promise

Navarros Promise
Breeds (24)
Lora Leigh
Berkley Sensation
Paperback
Published April 2011
307 Pages
Fantasy/Shape Shifter Romance
ISBN: 978-0-425-23978-0

Synopsis                                                                                   In the wolf breed novel, NAVARRO’S PROMISE, Mica Toler’s best friend is the wolf/coyote hybrid breed, Cassie Sinclair. And now Mica is being drawn into her world in ways she had prayed she never would be when the charming wolf breed Navarro makes good on the promise he made her on a dark, explosive night.

The Breeds guaranteed that no harm would come to Micah Toler but they never allowed for her sensual fascination with Navarro Blaine. Aloof, cool, and mysterious, he draws her in as no man ever has. But Micah never wanted this. She had her own dreams, her own desires, and being stalked and seduced by a wolf breed wasn’t part of that plan.

Now she knows her life is in danger. What Navarro knows is that she’s his mate and that the breeding and training that created him is being peeled away in his desperation to claim a woman that refuses to be claimed.

He has her body. She craves his touch. And as the breeds converge the past will rise up to haunt Navarro in ways he never expected.

Summary:
Mica, is protected by the breeds due to her relationship with them. Mica is then attacked when she is alone, and in danger, and there is no one that knows how much danger she is in. She is then attacked and on the run from council coyote breeds who are out to get her so they can kidnap her and use her as leverage...but then she is rescued by Navarro, whom even though he is unsure whether Mica is his lifemate wants her with a desperation and craves her like he has no other. Mica even though she wants Navarro, she knows they have no future because of the type of breed he is where he could never come to love her....since she doesn't know if he is even capable of such emotion.

The Hero (Navarro Blaine)
Navarro has always had a fascination with Mica, even though he was trained to blend in, and be cool and aloof he finds that he can't be that way with Mica. The moment he hears that she is in danger he sets out to protect her....but then he starts to realize that she is his mate and he sets out to seduce her and claim her as his own...

The Heroine (Mica Toler)
Mica, an only child has known the breeds for the majority of her life, and has become best friends with Cassie, and when she is in danger she flees not knowing how long she can be on the run from the coyotes that are out to get her knowing they can use her against the breeds. Then she is rescued by Navarro and things only increase in intensity when she starts to realize that they could be mates...but she won't settle for anything else than a love match.

My Thoughts
Navarro's Promise is the 24th in the Breed series by Lora Leigh. I have really loved this series....and I found that this was a exciting one....and having seen Navarro in previous books in the series...I have been looking forward to his story. What this story really boils down to is how we see Navarro who is suppose to be unable to feel unable to have emotion such as love...only he learns that Mica is the one who can change things for him. There was a dangerous element as well to the plot.....and the sensual side was very steamy...but defintiely a powerfully seduction read that will make you go wild!!!

And the beautiful, determined schemer will not rest until she returns joy and light to the damaged lord's life...and wins a place in his shuttered heart forever.

 MY REVIEW
Summary:
Lady Arabella is independent and has had to turn down several marriage offers because its obvious that it isn't her they want but her fortune, so she decides to take a break and stay with her cousin and her husband in the country. While reading, Lord John finds her and through some witty and entertaining interaction they begin to fall for each other....however John is a wounded war hero and has some ghosts in his past and is unwilling to put Arabella at risk...even if that means giving her up and the love he has for her. Arabella is determined not to lose the one man she has come to love, one who respects and loves her for who she is and not what she is....but will she be able to show this tormented man how to learn to love and more than that learn to let go and live life once more?

The Hero (John Blackwood)
John, has recently returned from the war, and having received a title and earned enough to purchase a small estate, has decided to reside in the countryside....especially with a wounded leg that will never heal fully. John has a tortured past...one that haunts every living moment and the moment Arabella enters his life he refuses to put her in arms way....but it soon becomes apparent that his feelings for her go deep...enough so that he knows he could never truly give her up...even if they have to fight the demons of his past together.

The Heroine (Arabella Blydon)
Arabella has always wanted to find true love and has never managed to find it....and even though she is a bluestocking she knows that could never expect anything less than a love match. When she finds herself finding a intense love for a wounded man she knows that she will have to fight to win his heart and prove to him that their love will be enough.

My Thoughts
Dancing At Midnight is the second in the Splendid series....and the first time I have read this book...even though I could have sworn I had read every one of Julia Quinn's books already. I have no idea how I missed this one before now...but I am just so glad that I found this treasure. One of my favorite things that I loved about this one....is that the hero was a complicated characters....and that he wasn't this just about perfect man...that he had flaws and demons and Arabella was such a sweet character...you couldn't help but like her...she had such charming qualities about her. Even though there was a dark side to this book it also was filled with laughter and a sense of carefreeness (is that even a word? if not I just created a new one) that just endeared me from the first page to the very last and now I am thinking I need to read the rest of the series again. Dancing at Midnight was a true romantic romp....and I had such a fun time reading this one!!! Definitely a keeper!

I would have to say non fiction....I have the hardest time with reading non fiction and it can take me weeks to get one book in the genre read....and anything really that doesn't have romance in it....for any fiction books in order for me to get into it...it has to have some level of romance (crazy I know!!!)

Teaser Tuesday (44)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme that I have just discovered, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

•Grab your current read

•Open to a random page

•Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others! Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like.

"How do I know you're really a starship captain--that you're hiring me to fly, and not"--Tee blushed furiously --"for sex?" She waved her gun at him, and he resisted the potent urge to cover his privates. Never in his life had he seen anything like this pistol-toting pixie, her chin jutting out, her eyes accusing him of unspeakable perversions.
"Now that you bring it up, how do I know you're really a pilot? For all I know, you're just another good for nothing drifter, lying your way aboard my ship for the chance at a hot meal and a clean bunk. We have no choice but to trust each other. So," he prompted " What will it be?"
She stowed her pistol "It appears I will trust you, Earth-dweller"
"Good. And just so there's no misunderstanding about my personal life" he caught her by the arm, bringing his mouth close to one perfectly formed little ear--"when I want sex, I don't have to buy it,"

 Question Of The Week
What keeps you read at the first few pages of a book, and what makes you stop reading a book and put it back on the shelf?

Well most of the books I usually read, I have been able to get into the story so I usually don't have a problem with this one, but there are occasions when it does happen....I have a rule to read the first 30 pages of a book...if I am bored I will then put it away...I figure if I am not into a book by then, then there isnt much of a point in keep reading a book I am not enjoying! The thing that really keeps me reading though, is if its witty or engaging.....
