Before she was old enough for a marriage-of-alliance, Xylara was trained as a healer. She can't usurp her brother or negotiate a peace--but she can heal the brave ones injured in battle.

But not only her countrymen are wounded, and Xylara's conscience won't let Firelander warriors die when she can do something to save them. She learns their language and their customs and tries to make them as comfortable as possible, despite their prisoner-of-war status.

She never expects that these deeds, done in good faith, would lead to the handsome and mysterious Firelander Warlord demanding her in exchange for a cease-fire. Xylara knows must trade the life she has always known for the well-being of her people, and so she becomes...

The Warprize
My Review

Warpize is the first book in the series, and books 1-3 could actually be one big book, since there are no breaks between books, it just starts off from where the previous book left off. Now for quite some time I kept putting these books off, but I finally decided I needed to try it. Now after reading this book I bought books 2 and 3!!! You go into this book, expecting it to be a average historical themed bodice ripper style of book...well nope it wasn't. Now there are some bodice rippers I love, but I have to say that I LOVE LOVED LOVEDDD this book and what a world that this author has created for us. In Warprize the heroine, Lara, is a healer, and she is a princess, and her step brother is the king. They are at war, with the firelanders. She will aid anyone in need, it doesn't matter if they are friend or foe. So she has been visiting the prisoners to help them in their injuries, one night she heals a man that she learns is a high ranking officer to the firelanders, and she protects him, knowing her brother will have him killed. Then in the marketplace she meets a stranger,  a man that makes her burn and she feels a connection she has never felt before. This man, is the warlord, who is demanding that she become his warprize. In Lara's mind, that means she will become his slave. Its either she submits to him or her people will be slaughtered. So she does the right thing, and becomes the Warprize. From the first few days, she starts to realize that this Warlord isn't the typical one, he isn't violent or abusive or raping her. He treats her with respect, and lets her heal others, and roam the camp. Lara still fears him, but when she learns what the "Warprize" really means for him and his culture, Lara will be swept away in a world of magic, desire, and love. The Warprize was such a fantastic read, and I would put it up with my favorites list by far. I am so glad I bought this book, because I plan on reading it again in the near future, I just couldn't get enough of this couple. This story had me in tears and laughing the next moment, Lara is a heroine I came to adore, and what strength she had, and she learns to fight for what she wants most. I was really impressed with this author, what a storyteller she is!! A world that she creates that any fan of C.L. Wilson, MUST READ THIS ONE!!! You will have no regrets!! A story of a tender love, enriching characters, and a plot that thickens with each page!! A  STORY TO CAPTIVE YOU FROM THE FIRST PAGE!!

Synopsis
Lara is the Warprize

A powerful healer, she has sworn an oath of loyalty to Keir the Warlord, and his people. Now the Warlord and his chosen mate face enemies within the tribe and danger lurks on every hand as they journey toward Keir's homeland.

When they reach a village marked with the warnings of the plague, Keir forbids Lara to heal the sick, commanding that she not risk her own life. But both Lara and Kier are strong of will and neither will bend easily, even for love; and when Lara disobeys, she pays the price: both she and Kier are plague-struck... and so is their entire encampment.

In the midst of the dying, Iften, a rival warrior, gathers his followers and challenges Keir for the right to rule their tribe. If Keir, weakened by the sickness, loses -- he dies.

And so does Lara.

To save her love, her life, and her adopted people, Lara must find a cure for the plague -- and fully embrace her sworn role as Warprize to her Warlord.
My Review
In the second installment, the "Warsworn" we continue off from where the first book ended. Keir and Lara, are together, and are traveling their way to the plains so that Lara can become the official Warprize from the elders of their people. Lara has left everything she knows for the man she loves, but life is about to get a bit harder than she imagined. They stumble on a village, a village that is suffering from the plague, and despite Kier's protests, Lara goes in with a couple of her guards, and she finds only a couple of people left alive. A sickness, that kills in a few hours, and soon circumstances end up with the forces of the firelanders being contaminated with it, and Lara is fighting to heal and save those she can. Meanwhile, Keir's second in command, is causing turmoil among the camp, causing doubts against their Warlord. In Warsworn, we see more of Keir and Lara, and much more intensity and their bond is about to be tested. We see how these two are not only fighting for each other, but for their people. We see quite a bit of focus on Lara, in this installment, as we see her struggle with events that she has little control over. Where she is fighting for her life and the life of Keir and the future of the Firelanders. Lara has adopted them as her own, and she will do anything to save them. There is quite a bit of emotion displayed in this book, and I got put through the ringer on this one. It definitely isn't a easy one, but very satisfying!! I just kept cheering for this couple, there is so much against them and I just wanted Lara to find a way to win this one. From the first book you begin to really admire Lara, but this installment, you see her being constantly tested, and she comes out on top. I loved seeing Keir fight for his love, and I just wanted to cry in this book. Another win for Elizabeth Vaughan, and what a spectacular ending and I loved how it finishes off, in a way that ties some ends off , and begins new threads that makes you aching to read the next book in the series. Such a beautifully woven story of determination, power of true love and perseverance and to fight for what you believe in, no matter the cost. STUNNING IN ITS DETAIL!!

But in Lara's heart there are doubts--for what if she is found wanting? Will Keir give up everything he knows to be with his Warprize?
My Review
In the third installment, The Warlord, we continue from the second book, they are entering the Plains of the Firelanders, and this installment will prove Keir and Lara and the love they have for each other. Neither of them will be tested as in the WARLORD. Because not only will Lara have to prove her worthiness to be the Warprize, but Keir will have to prove his honor and integrity and deal with the rumors that are spreading, and none of them are good. Upon entering the valley, Lara learns that she will be tested, questioned, and separated from Keir until the elders come with a decision. In Warlord, Lara will learn about her inner strength, and will have to decide if she has what it takes to fight for herself and her warlord. With them being Separated, Lara craves Keir's touch and his presence more than ever, when she needs him the most. But she soon learns that she isn't alone, and that despite feeling alone, her friends from the firelander's camp are surrounding her, offering her comfort and aid should she call. She will also have to deal with proving herself, and fighting other warlords that would court her. She will also learn the secrets of Marcus's past (Marcus is a personal favorite of mine, and I so want him to find his happy ending). He is Keir friend and takes care of the Warlord and his Warprize and their needs. You seem more intrigue in the plot than others, and what a battle Keir and Lara have to fight, and they aren't even allowed to see each other. But for a Warlord, he fights for what he wants, and a Warlord always will find a way to be with his woman, in very creative ways. I loved seeing this story develop even more, and seeing both Keir and Lara tested even more, but what a powerful story this was. I think it might be my favorite book of the series, which is hard to say, because I adored them all. But this one, really keeps you engaged in the story, and I felt on the edge the whole way through, needing this couple to find their HEA, and its not a easy one to get for them. They have to fight for it, but what a battle.  A story to fascinate, intrigue, captivate you in ways you don't see coming!! POWERFUL AND INTRICATELY WRITTEN!!!
