Synopsis:
New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann knows exactly what makes hearts race and pulses pound: peril and passion. No one succeeds more brilliantly at blending these exhilarating elements in breathtaking novels of men and women forced to grapple with the deepest emotions and the highest risks. And there’s no better proof than her new novel of suspense: Hot Target aims to thrill on every level.
Like most men of action, Navy SEAL Chief Cosmo Richter never learned how to take a vacation. So when he finds himself facing a month’s leave, he offers his services to Troubleshooters Incorporated. Founded by a former SEAL, the private-sector security firm is a major player in the ongoing war against terrorism, known for carrying out covert missions too volatile for official U.S. military action. But the first case Richter takes on is anything but under the radar.
High-profile maverick movie producer Jane Mercedes Chadwick hasn’t quite completed her newest film, but she’s already courting controversy. The World War II epic frankly portrays the homosexuality of a real-life hero–and the storm of advance media buzz surrounding it has drawn the fury of extremist groups. But despite a relentless campaign of angry E-mails, phone calls, and smear tactics, Chadwick won’t be pressured into abandoning the project. Then the harassment turns to death threats.
While the FBI appears on the scene, nervous Hollywood associates call in Troubleshooters, and now Chadwick has an army of round-the-clock bodyguards, whether she likes it or not. And she definitely doesn’t. But her stubbornness doesn’t make FBI agent Jules Cassidy’s job any easier. The fiercely independent filmmaker presents yet another emotional obstacle that Cassidy doesn’t need–he’s already in the midst of a personal tug-of-war with his ex-lover, while fighting a growing attraction to Chadwick’s brother.
Determined to succeed–and survive–on her own terms, Chadwick will face off with enemies and allies alike. But she doesn’t count on the bond she forms with the quiet, capable Cosmo Richter. Yet even as their feelings bring them closer, the noose of deadly terror all around them draws tighter. And when all hell erupts, desire and desperate choices will collide on a killing ground that may trap them both in the crossfire.

My Review:
Navy SEAL Cosmo Richter, finds himself having one month's leave from the team, so he decides that while he is in San Diego, he can be helping his mother, who was injured, and to help the Troubleshooter team, on his first case, which is to protect the movie producer Jane Chadwick, who has had threats put on her life, based on the most current movie that she is producing, which has caused her to be threatened by extremist groups. Janie doesn't want to believe that the threats and emails are real, and hates the fact that her bosses hired a protective detail to protect her when she doesn't feel that there is a real threat. However as the danger escalates, she starts to come to the realization that there is someone out there that does want her killed, and knows that this team can protect her and are more than willing to do so, especially when things get heated between Janie and Cosmo. Jules Cassidy, a FBI Agent, is also involved on this case, and is put in a unteniable position when he meets Janie's brother Robin Chadwick, who doesn't want to admit that he is a alcoholic and gay, and whom has never been able to stay with someone longer than one evening. With these two plots, you will find yourself unable to stop reading the next page, and flipping them as fast as you can read them.
Hot Target was a delicious and suspenseful read, that is knocked my socks off. Again with this series, I decided to listen to these on my Ipod, and I just loved this one. This is the second time I have read Hot Target, and I just loved getting into the story involving Cosmo and Jules. With Cosmo, has always been one of the SEALs on team 16 that has been more withdrawn, has great talent, but this is the first where we truly get to know this character, and I found it delightful to start to delve into him. Cosmo is one of my favorites out of all the SEALS, and those of you who have read Hot Target would understand. Cosmo is the kind of character, that hides himself more than not, but is strong and capable at what he has most talent in. So now we have a more of the quiet SEALs on Team 16, involved with a very famous producer with camera's in her face all the time. But Janie is not what Cosmo ever expected to see beneath the surface, and finds that he can't resist her, and finds himself falling for the stunning movie producer. Now to the other plot, involving my favorite of all the characters in this whole series Jules Cassidy. I have always been on his side, and Hot Target begins when he first meets Robin Chadwick, who plays a gay role in a movie, and starts to come to the realization that he could be gay, and that Jules excites him more than anything ever has. However Jules having been hurt before, doesn't want to be hurt again, knowing that he could easily fall for the hot actor in a flash. Hot Target is a sensation read that will pull at your heart strings, and lead you on a roller coaster ride that you will never regret. Filled with action, romance, and an intensity that will have you breathing just a little faster than normal, Hot Target will leave you in suspense until the very end!!
